Research reports show that FAS is closely related to obesity and cancer. In 2000, Loftus et al. found that injecting FAS inhibitor into obese mice could inhibit the expression of hypothalamic feeding hormone neural signal peptide Y(NPY) through the accumulation of malonyl-CoA, which led to a significant decrease in appetite and weight, thus suggesting that FAS is a new potential target for treating obesity.

TB is a water-soluble non-dialysis, highly polymerized brown substance of tea polyphenols, which is formed by further oxidative polymerization of TF and TR. Some scholars call the water-soluble substance insoluble in ethyl acetate and n-butanol TB, and its content accounts for 4 ~ 9% of the dry weight of tea by spectrophotometry. The experiment showed that most of the original inhibitory activity of black tea extract remained after removing TF and TR, so we thought that TB was the main active component in black tea to inhibit FAS.
