The film adopts a stylized narrative mode. The first part focuses on the friendship between two girls, the second part sanctions from the perspective of father, and the second part tells about the affection between father and daughter. The relationship between the three characters is relatively concentrated, with clear priorities, compact plots and clear stories.
Jin Jide's films are easy to identify. The elements of obsession are fish, water, boats, prostitutes, sex and violence. Dumb marginal figures show the complexity of human nature, and there is a feeling of listening to thunder in a silent place.
