Different habits: Pennisetum likes to grow in sunny, warm and humid environment. Elephant grass can be planted in groups on forest edges, banks and grasslands.

First, the appearance is different.

1, Pennisetum

(1) is clustered, with thick fibrous roots, erect stems, about 30- 1.20 cm high, and dense hairs under inflorescences.

(2) The leaf sheath is smooth, both sides are squashed, the upper part of the stem is longer than the internodes, and there are cilia about 2.5 mm long on the tongue.

(3) The leaves are linear, about 10-80 cm long and about 3-8 mm wide, with tapering tips and verrucous hairs at the base.

(4) Panicle, about 5-25 cm long and about 1.5-3.5 cm wide, with dense hairs on the main shaft, and the total stalk is about 2-5 mm long, with light green or purple bristles and rough bristles.

2. Pennisetum purpurea

(1) clustered, with stout fibrous roots and erect stems, about 30- 120 cm high.

(2) The leaf sheath is smooth, both sides are flat, the main vein is ridged, the leaf blade is linear, and the apex is long and tapering.

(3) Flowering begins from May to August, with panicles and dense flowers, often bent to one side, showing a wolf's tail shape, and the bristles are purple or light green and rough.

Second, different habits.

1, Pennisetum

(1) likes to grow in a warm, humid and sunny environment, and the growth rate will be accelerated when the temperature exceeds 20℃.

(2) Drought resistance, humidity resistance, semi-shade resistance and strong cold resistance.

2. Pennisetum purpurea

Light-loving, cold-resistant, moisture-resistant, semi-shade-resistant, mild alkali-resistant, drought-resistant and barren-resistant, and can be planted singly or in groups, or in patches on forest edges, banks, hillsides, grasslands and stones.
