TCM Health Care: What is the cause of oral ulcer? How to treat it?
Oral ulcer, also known as aphtha, is generally called "internal fire" by the people. It is a localized ulcer injury of oral mucosa, which occurs in any part of oral mucosa and is characterized by periodic recurrence. From rice grains to soybeans, it is round or oval in size, with sunken ulcer surface and congestion around it. Under normal circumstances, it can be cured naturally.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, oral ulcer is a symptom of dry fire caused by the inhibition of cardiopulmonary function, insufficient oxygen supply, excessive loss of liver by body fluid and endocrine disorder caused by visceral dysfunction. Lack of certain vitamins, excessive fatigue or excessive toxins in the body can all cause oral ulcers. Traditional Chinese medicine refers to the fire of the heart and lungs, which is characterized by dry mouth, rotten tongue, cleft lip, red eyes, tinnitus and slight cough.

Causes of oral ulcer:

According to the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine, oral ulcer has the following causes: exogenous six evils, improper diet, excessive emotion, deficiency of both body and yin, internal injury from strain and congenital deficiency.

Exogenous six evils and dryness of fire are two main pathogenic factors. Dryness is easy to damage body fluid, and fire is yang evil. When its nature is inflamed, body fluid hurts fire, and it becomes aphtha. Therefore, aphtha is easy to recur in autumn and when the climate changes suddenly.

Eating too much spicy and greasy food, or picky eaters, leads to intense internal heat, attacking along meridians, leading to aphtha, which often consumes yin and body fluid of lung and kidney.

Excessive emotion, emotional instability, excessive thinking, restless sleep, low mood, excessive heart fire, upward stagnation and burning mouth, or heart fire moving down to the small intestine and attacking the mouth along meridians can all lead to sores on the mouth; Or, in normal times, there is more depression and anger, liver stagnation and qi stagnation, depression and gasification of fire, dark consumption of yin and blood, leading to vigorous liver fire and sores on the mouth and tongue.

People with insufficient body yin, people with insufficient body yin at ordinary times, or people with yin deficiency, lead to endogenous virtual fire, burn the mouth and get aphtha.

Internal injury due to fatigue, or spleen injury due to long-term fatigue and long-term illness, resulting in spleen deficiency and dampness, spots on the tongue and mouth, and aphtha; Or the long-term backlog of accumulated fire turns into damp heat, and the evaporation of damp heat leads to aphtha. Spleen-yang deficiency is due to spleen-qi deficiency, which leads to spleen-yang deficiency, and aphtha can also occur due to cold, dampness and dampness.

First, the celestial body is weak, or the body suffers from cold for a long time, which hurts the spleen and kidney, leading to yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney, yin and cold, cold and dampness reaching the mouth and tongue, causing blood stasis, and over time, it will lead to sores on the mouth, lips and tongue.

In a word, exogenous pathogenic factors, six yin dryness and fire, and internal injury of viscera and excess heat are the main causes of the disease, which are mainly caused by the heart and spleen.

Treatment of oral ulcer;

Generally, aphtha can heal itself. If you can't heal yourself, you can choose Chinese medicine for treatment. Keep the affected area clean and don't dig or peel it by hand to avoid bacterial infection. In the process of treatment, we should prescribe the right medicine. For aphthae and recurrent aphthae caused by excessive fire due to yin deficiency and excessive fire due to deficiency, drugs with the function of nourishing yin and reducing fire should be selected. Spleen and stomach stagnation type should clear heat and purge fire, cool blood and relax bowels.

Heart-fire-type inflammation should clear heart, purge fire, cool blood and induce diuresis. Liver depression and heat accumulation type should clear liver and purge fire, regulate qi and cool blood. Yin deficiency and fire flourishing type should nourish yin and clear heat. Spleen deficiency and dampness resistance type should strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness. Deficiency of both qi and blood requires both qi and blood.

Prevention of oral ulcers:

In daily life, we should pay attention to keep our mouth clean, rinse our mouths with light salt water frequently, do not smoke and drink too much, and ensure adequate sleep time. Develop a good daily life rule, eat a light diet, eat more vegetables, eat less spicy food, eat more fruits and drink more water to reduce the chance of aphtha. You can drink honey water and glucose water to reduce fire, and you can also eat more cold things such as bananas, turtle paste, herbal tea, carrots, grapefruit and cucumbers. Need to add some heart-warming foods, such as yam, jujube, lotus seed, lily, fungus, pear, sesame and so on. Keep exercising in your daily life, keep a happy mood, avoid excessive fatigue and keep your stool smooth.

Although oral ulcer is a minor illness, it can not be ignored. Oral ulcer can be complicated with halitosis, chronic pharyngitis, constipation, headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, irritability, fever, lymphadenopathy and other systemic symptoms. Therefore, problems in any part of the body should be treated well.
