When Lin Haifeng was a child, she lived in observatory road, Tsim Sha Tsui and Yuehua Street, Kwun Tong. Later, he moved to Lide Village in Dakeng and now lives in Repulse Bay. Tommy Tam, a martial arts movie star, is his uncle. He graduated from Saint Teresa's Primary School and Saint Joseph's College in his early years, then entered Caritas Bianchi Vocational College to study design, and met Eric Kot and Xia Yongkang.

Lin and Ge worked as window designers in Esprit Global in their early years. 1988, the two joined the commercial radio station together with Lin Shanshan, and formed the group "Hard Shi Tian" of Softhard and Lin Haifeng. They have been hosting many popular radio programs on Almighty 903.
