The correspondence between Mr. Wu Qingzhong and me

The Manual for the Use of Human Body written by Mr. Wu Qingzhong enjoys a high reputation among readers in China for its in-depth understanding of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine and its writing style of appealing to both refined and popular tastes. The circulation of 400,000 copies has set a record for the circulation of public health books and played an important role in the popularization of Chinese medicine.

It is such an old Wu who said on his blog that I was his first teacher, which caused many friends to wonder: Lao Wu is nearly 20 years older than me, how can I be his first teacher? In fact, Lao Wu is such a person, an old urchin, just like Zhou in Jin Yong's works. He has never had the concept of hierarchy. In retrospect, Lao Wu and I have known each other for more than 10 years, and many interesting things and past events are still vivid in my mind.

I remember it was 1993. I stayed in Shanghai with an entrepreneur friend and lived in the villa of Lao Wu Company. Lao Wu was also a businessman at that time, or it is more appropriate to describe him as a financier and investor. It is said that he is in charge of hundreds of millions of dollars in project funds.

I heard that I have a good knowledge of Chinese medicine. Lao Wu drives me to his house for dinner every day after work. Lao Wu is a person who pays great attention to the quality of life, and his use of time is also "clear between public and private". For example, he never talks about the company at home. He always talks about anecdotes at the dinner table and has an excellent appetite.

After dinner, Lao Wu and I often drink tea, smell incense and talk about medical theory in the study, which is very congenial. Lao Wu is extremely clever and never forgets anything. I remember talking to him once about the five fortunes and six spirits of Chinese medicine. As a result, he memorized it in less than an hour At that time, Lao Wu had a unique view on TCM health preservation, and thus set foot in many fields such as modern biology and psychology.

We often have arguments. I emphasize the doctor's divine power, and he pays more attention to the self-healing of patients. Finally, arguments are often fruitless. Although I am a stubborn person, he is tolerant and patient, so there is never a bad ending.

Now that I think about it, Lao Wu is really a rare mentor: his extensive knowledge and the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine also inspired my theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine, and his tolerant spirit made me sincerely admire him.

At noon every day, we begin to meditate and sing. Lao Wu likes the Heart Sutra best and sings heartily. We're echoing each other. It's interesting. It's really "there are stars on the head, but there is only a little space in my heart". Although it is hard to be extraordinary, we also enjoy it. This leisurely life is really hard to forget!

Later, my friend gave Lao Wu a set of medical broken gold mirrors during the Qianlong period. Lao Wu regards it as a treasure and often studies it. I often laugh at him for doing nothing, and he always says mysteriously, "Doing business has brilliant ideas." It seems that Lao Wu has got the message and knows everything.

Later, my entrepreneur friends went abroad to develop, and Lao Wu's investment business grew bigger and bigger. I was also busy with my own business, so everyone didn't have time to get together and had little contact on weekdays. Sometimes Lao Wu's friends come to Beijing from Shanghai just to meet, have tea or play ball and convey greetings to each other. They haven't seen each other for years.

Until last August, a friend of Lao Wu sent me the Manual for People specially. After reading this book, I was both surprised and excited. I quickly found Lao Wu's mailing address and typed a short message with the five-stroke input method I just learned:

Zhong Qing brothers:

Hello, long time no see, I miss you very much. Reading the masterpiece "Manual for Human Use" made me dumbfounded and amazed.

Many people are good at complicating simple problems; But my brother is really the first person in the world who can explain the complex and mysterious theory of traditional Chinese medicine so approachable.

It is not difficult to interpret the ancients. My brother has many fantastic ideas and unique ideas. "Human voltage", "functional system" and "qi and blood level" ... are really witty remarks, which make me feel very comfortable and benefit a lot.

Brother's words, learning from nature, combining Chinese and western, if filled with simpler and more effective health care and treatment methods, nip in the bud, and let the world get rid of the road of seeking medical treatment at a loss and being at the mercy of others, it is really a great merit!

Early the next morning, I received a reply from Lao Wu:

Brother in the photo:

I was pleasantly surprised to receive your letter. We should call each other brothers, but there is a big difference in age between us. It seems a bit fake to call you "brother", but it is more natural to call you "brother" directly.

We haven't seen each other for a long time. My old friend Dong Meng has really improved a lot under your care. Seriously, if it weren't for your medical skills, he might have died long ago. We often talk about you.

There are only three doctors I admire most in China: you are the first; Then there is the psychic in Guangzhou. He keeps a low profile, and his name will not be mentioned for the time being. I also mentioned a Chen Yuqin in my book.

You three have your own strengths. You are an expert in medical care and first aid. Guangzhou's kind can see through the human body and see the meridians on the human body, and directly deal with the blockage; Chen Yuqin has many original views on chronic diseases, and most of the concepts in my book come from her.

Your proposal is very good. I know you have many simple and effective ways to preserve health and treat diseases. We can publish it together. On the one hand, it can make the world truly understand the magic of Chinese medicine, give many terminally ill patients a chance and save many family tragedies. On the other hand, you can also carve out a broad life path for yourself.

I believe that the works we have worked together will be more practical and wonderful than my first book, and these books are not only suitable for China people, but also for foreigners, and they will have the opportunity to be distributed all over the world.

Lao Wu's reply made me very excited, but I felt that I lacked the consciousness and feeling of writing, and I was afraid that what I wrote was boring and rigid, or because I had damaged Lao Wu's reputation instead, I didn't start writing.

When Lao Wu wrote to ask, I said, why don't I start a blog first to see how popular it is and how readers react? With the encouragement of readers, it is not too late to write a book. Lao Wu always follows the principle of letting nature take its course. He not only agreed to my proposal, but also strongly recommended it on his own blog after my blog was launched.

Working with such a friend makes you feel no pressure at all, because he will always tolerate everything about you and then fully support you! Although Lao Wu is a native of Taiwan Province Province, his mantra is an authentic Beijing dialect: between brothers, there is no need to be polite.

Knowing Lao Wu is really a great pleasure in my life!
