The "emperor" in this wine name refers to Emperor Taizong, because Emperor Taizong was the founding emperor of the Tang Dynasty and one of the legendary emperors in China history. His statesmanship, wisdom, love and contribution to the country and the nation were praised and revered by later generations, so his name was included in the wine name, which meant that the style and quality of this wine reached the extreme, with the dignity and demeanor of an emperor.
There are two theories about the origin of this wine. One theory is that Emperor Taizong met a Taoist priest in the next dynasty. The Taoist priest gave him an altar of wine and told Emperor Taizong that it would take fifteen years to open it. Taizong obeyed. 15 years later, he opened the jar and found that the wine had become an unusually delicious wine, so he named it "Yufeng". Another way of saying it is that during the reign of Emperor Taizong, in order to express his love for the country and care for the people, he personally developed a formula, using precious Chinese herbal medicines as the main raw materials and white wine brewed from local pure grain, and made a wine with unique smell, mellow taste, rich nutrition, functions of invigorating qi and activating blood circulation, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals, refreshing the brain and removing dampness, which was named "Yufeng", meaning the emperor's concept and style of governing the country.
No matter which kind, imperial style wine has become a treasure in Chinese wine culture and is deeply loved by consumers.
