Bayi District belongs to Linzhi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, located in the southeast of Tibet, China, at the southeast foot of Nyainqentanglha Mountain, at the intersection of Yarlung Zangbo River and Yangni River. It is the lowest altitude area on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is known as "Southern Tibet".
