Plant morphology Achyranthes bidentata
Annual or biennial erect herb, about 1 m high. The stems are multi-branched, freely drooping, cylindrical, purplish red, often with yellowish brown longitudinal texture, and the nodes are obviously enlarged. Young branches are square, with vertical edges, turquoise or purplish red, short white hair, and old branches gradually fall off. The leaves are opposite, oblong obovate to ovoid or obovate, 3 ~10cm long and1~ 4cm wide, with a tapering tip, a narrow base, the whole margin and dense quilts on both sides. The spike is terminal, elongated, 4 ~ 15 cm long, with green flowers, about 4 mm long, upright when budding, and close to floral axis after opening; Bracteoles 2, conical tip, stout, usually slightly shorter than calyx, membranous and transparent base on both sides; 5 stamens, T-shaped, purple filaments, staminodes eyelash-like, surrounding the ovary; The ovary is inverted cone-shaped, the style is single and the stigma is undivided.
