1, eat cake
Chongyang ascends to ward off evil spirits, but many places are plains and there is nothing to climb. So people use "eating cakes" instead of "crawling". There are many kinds of materials for Chongyang cake, such as chrysanthemum cake, flower cake, five-color cake, etc., and the production method is more casual by frying or steaming. In some places, Chongyang cakes are very particular. It should be made into nine floors with two sheep squeezed on it, which is in line with the meaning of Chongyang (sheep). Insert a small flag instead of dogwood and pray for bad luck. Some people put Chongyang cake on their children's foreheads and wish them all the best.
Step 2 climb high
One of the most important festival activities in Chongyang is mountain climbing. Therefore, the Double Ninth Festival is also called "ascensiontide". There is no uniform rule for climbing mountains. Generally, we climb mountains and towers. Of course, people climb mountains not only to climb mountains, but also to see the red leaves and wild flowers on the mountains and enjoy them by drinking and eating meat. This combination of climbing mountains and picnics is more attractive. Climbing has a long history. According to the Records of Chang 'an written in the Northern Song Dynasty, Chang 'an was the capital of the Han Dynasty, and there was a small high platform near Chang 'an. Whenever the Double Ninth Festival, people will climb the small platform to enjoy the beautiful scenery in autumn. Because the mountain they climbed was a small platform, it was called "climbing the mountain".
3. ancestor worship
The ancestor worship in Chongyang, Guangdong Province is called "Worship Taigong Mountain", and all family members should attend. The worship of the Double Ninth Festival is to thank the ancestors for their kindness and pray for the blessing after the harvest, so the atmosphere is relaxed and happy, and there will be no sadness like "pedestrians want to break their souls".
There are many rules to pay attention to when sweeping graves to worship ancestors. Worship Gong Zu first, then ancestor worship in turn, and finally ancestor worship. All the people in the village, whether they moved out or not, are all together to worship Taizu Gong. Sacrificial products include pork (cooked or cooked), rooster (cooked), cakes, fruits, tea, wine, clothes and grass, mingbi, paper products, incense sticks and so on.
Step 4 enjoy chrysanthemums
Because most flowers bloom in spring and summer, only chrysanthemums bloom in late autumn and are unbeaten after frost. Therefore, chrysanthemum is known as a gentleman in flowers and a symbol of nobility and pride. Tao Yuanming's "Picking chrysanthemums under the hedge, leisurely seeing Nanshan" spread through the ages, making chrysanthemums known as "hermits in flowers". For thousands of years, chrysanthemum appreciation and chanting on the Double Ninth Festival has become an important activity for literati to cultivate their self-cultivation. Even without chrysanthemums, the Double Ninth Festival is no longer complete.
5, basking in autumn
The Double Ninth Festival is also the harvest season. Because the harvest is concentrated at this time, and there is no flat land in many places in the south, every household is drying crops on the windowsill and roof. Looking up from afar, the whole village is almost covered with grain, which is basking in autumn. In Wuyuan, Jiangxi, a grand "Sun Autumn Festival" is held on September 9th every year. Every household has planted all kinds of crops, and the whole village is full of harvest. People sing and dance to celebrate the harvest and pray for a bumper harvest next year.
Step 6 drink chrysanthemum wine
In ancient times, chrysanthemum wine was specially brewed for the Double Ninth Festival in the first year. On September 9th, pick the newly opened chrysanthemums and a little green branches and leaves, mix them with grain for brewing, and then use them together to make wine, and put them into the next September 9th for drinking. It is said that drinking this wine can prolong life. This is a festive season, autumn is crisp, chrysanthemums are in full bloom, and the windows are golden. In addition to climbing the mountain and inserting dogwood, relatives and friends also invited each other to drink chrysanthemum wine and enjoy chrysanthemums. They really had a good time. Poets, in particular, admire chrysanthemums, drink wine and recite poems as a reward, leaving many good sentences for future generations. Chrysanthemum contains health ingredients. Drinking chrysanthemum wine on the Double Ninth Festival is a traditional custom in China. Chrysanthemum wine, in ancient times, was regarded as "auspicious wine" that must be drunk on the Double Ninth Festival to pray for good luck and eliminate disasters.
7, put paper harrier
Double Ninth Festival custom: Putting paper owls is the main custom of celebrating Double Ninth Festival in Huizhou. In other words, the folk Double Ninth Festival in Huizhou is mainly characterized by paper flying kites. This habit is not only described in the folk songs circulating in Huizhou, but also described in Guangxu's Huizhou Fu Zhi. Paper harriers are kites now, too. Kite is the title after the Five Dynasties. Five dynasties ago, the north used to call it a "paper kite" and the south used to call it a "kite". The appellation of "paper kite" in Huizhou obviously retains the ancient appellation of five dynasties ago, and has the flavor of "a mixture of north and south". Huizhou folk paper owls have changed their original appearance, mostly with a square plane and a tail, and their shapes are similar to those of the door gods and deities attached to the folk, so it is suspected that they are a simplification of the god kite.
I missed a long time on September 9th, the Double Ninth Festival. Appreciate chrysanthemums, climb high and express happiness; In the sunset, there are several geese, and good news is frequently spread. Send greetings, tell your heart, and wish you good luck and health.
