Health care function of honey: angel or devil?
Many people have the habit of eating honey for health care and think that honey has many functions, such as prolonging life and diminishing inflammation; Prevent and treat cancer, neurological disorders, autoimmune diseases, allergies, cardiovascular diseases, liver diseases, nephropathy, gastrointestinal diseases, and even reproductive diseases. It can be seen that the health care status of honey in the hearts of ordinary people is very important.

In terms of nutrients, almost all kinds of honey contain a high proportion of fructose, about 39%; Glucose accounts for about 31%; Water accounts for18%; Other sugars account for10%; Protein, minerals and trace components account for 2%.

1, fructose

It is recognized by the scientific community that excessive intake of fructose not only easily leads to metabolic system diseases, but also increases the incidence of various cancers, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver and cardiovascular diseases. This is mainly because fructose can promote lipogenesis, insulin resistance, inflammation, decreased intestinal permeability, increased serum uric acid level, promoted the production of reactive oxygen species and subsequent damage to DNA and cells.

2. Acrylamide

Besides monosaccharide, honey also contains an important amino acid-asparagine. When honey is stored or exposed to high temperature for a long time, asparagine will easily react with sugar to produce acrylamide. Acrylamide is a possible human carcinogen.

3. Residues of agricultural and veterinary drugs

Nowadays, pesticides or insecticides are widely used in agriculture, and honey is easily polluted. Yaser studied the pesticide residues in honey samples from 27 countries, including China, and found 92 kinds of pesticide residues in * * *. Class I toxicity 14, class II toxicity 42, class III toxicity 35, class IV toxicity 1. Among them, 12 pesticide residues were detected in honey from China. Long-term consumption of food with pesticide residues may have adverse effects on human health. Of course, these porcelain samples do not represent all the honey in China. Pesticide residues in honey are mainly affected by agricultural conditions around beekeeping areas. If honey enterprises strictly detect pesticide residues in honey, it is believed that the harm of pesticide residues in honey can be minimized.

4. Botulinum toxin

It is worth noting that it is not recommended to give honey to infants under 1 year-old, because there have been reports at home and abroad on cases of infants who died of botulism caused by eating honey.

In short, excessive consumption of honey or other high-sugar foods may be potentially harmful to human health.
