Wuhan Institute of Bioengineering, formerly known as Wuhan Bioengineering School, was founded in 1993. In 2000, it was upgraded to Wuhan Bioengineering Vocational and Technical College, and in 2005, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college and renamed Wuhan Bioengineering College.
