There are two peaks like natural shadow walls in front of Dapingtai, backed by peaks like plush chairs, like solid backers. Therefore, the local people regard the big platform as a "land of feng shui" in the air. It is precisely because it is a "land of feng shui" that people are here, culture is here, and humanistic atmosphere is here.
Because there is water to drink, food and fruit to eat, birds and animals to supplement nutrition, wild medicinal materials to treat diseases, and the environment is beautiful and hidden, during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, Daping became an old revolutionary base area, where generals such as Nie, Yang Chengwu and others stationed troops and lit a blazing anti-Japanese bonfire. Once, when the night was dark and the wind was high, Japanese devils touched here and tried to capture Yang Chengwu alive, but failed. Wit and courage, under the cover of lush fruit trees and crops, Yang Chengwu moved as smoothly as playing hide-and-seek with Japanese devils.
There are many kinds of rocks on the platform, such as limestone, granite and gneiss, which give birth to different landform features and form many natural landscapes, such as Jiangjunshi, Nantianmen, Pubugou, Shiben and thousands of feet Cliff. In the rainy season, the alpine waterfall shows the scene of "flying down three thousands of feet, and it is suspected that the Milky Way has set for nine days". After the rain, there is fog, the sea of clouds is churning, and the sea of fog is vast and boundless, just like the nine celestial bodies. This kind of landscape, which is easy to hide, is the natural umbrella of the Eighth Route Army and an ideal place for the wounded and sick. Therefore, the Eighth Route Army built a rear hospital here, and thousands of patients came here for treatment and recuperation. Bethune, Ke Dihua and other international fighters have treated the sick and wounded here and had operations.
The big platform is very old. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, a young couple who fled set foot on a big platform, which is a treasure trove of geomantic omen. Seeing beautiful mountains and rivers, fertile soil, lush green grass and fresh air, they resolutely set up huts, set up pots and stoves, cut mountains and cultivate fields, and settled down and took root. Since then, there has been popularity, babies crying, cooking smoke, chickens barking and dogs barking, green terraces and lush fruit trees. Nowadays, when we visit the big platform, the Ming Dynasty residential sites, ancient wells and ancient trees are still vivid.
The big platform is mysterious. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, when the Japanese heard that there were four or five hundred wounded soldiers at the top of the mountain, they surrounded them with iron walls. Halfway up the hill, they suddenly received an order to retreat. In this way, the wounded in great danger of our army suddenly turned to safety.
The big platform is very beautiful. At an altitude of 700 meters, she is dozens of miles higher than the surrounding mountains. She is bordered by Sendai River in the west and critical river in the south, with abundant groundwater. Abundant water resources make the ancient wells of large platforms inexhaustible all year round, and the water quality is sweet and good. Coupled with the thick soil layer, the platform is icing on the cake, making the platform full of green. Pine and cypress are luxuriant, secondary forests are everywhere, and all kinds of vegetation are competing to grow. From spring to autumn, you can see flowers blooming. Dozens of exotic flowers and herbs, such as peach blossom, apricot blossom, walnut blossom, bitter cabbage flower, medlar flower, trumpet flower, Dahongpao flower, bauhinia flower, Zizyphus jujuba flower, lotus seed flower, wild leek flower, cockscomb flower and wild chrysanthemum flower, have brought rich fragrance to the platform. Green trees and fragrant flowers have cultivated nearly 100 species of birds, such as red-billed crow, cuckoo, pigeon, swallow, pheasant, magpie and owl. There are dozens of small animals such as rabbits, foxes and weasels in the jungle and caves.
