Can ginger repel cats?
Most mosquito repellent products contain two components, one is pyrethroid and the other is DEET. Mosquito repellent is really useful, but it is fatal to cats and relatively safe to dogs. However, when using dogs, you should also be careful not to touch them directly.

So, how do pet families deal with mosquitoes in summer?

1. Living under a mosquito net Actually, when I was a child, I lived under a mosquito net at my grandfather's house. Later, when I lived in high school, because electric mosquito coils were inconvenient, nobody lit mosquito nets anyway. Everyone lives in a mosquito net. Just close the door in time to ensure that mosquitoes can't get in. Occasionally, one or two fish slip through the net, so a large space can be destroyed directly.

2, electric mosquito swatter This is still used at home when I was a child. With a wave of the money directly in the place where mosquitoes fly, you can hear the crackling sound, and mosquitoes can be wiped out a lot.

But if you have a pet in the city, in fact, there are not so many mosquitoes at home, so it is a bit overqualified to use the electric mosquito swatter, if it is completely useful in the countryside. After all, the last time I went back to my hometown, I saw mosquitoes flying around in droves at night, using electric mosquito swatter.

3. Mosquito repellent and mosquito repellent lamp are both physical mosquito repellents.

Mosquito killer directly attracts mosquitoes by using light wave induction and vortex airflow. As long as you get close, you will be washed into the mosquito tray at the bottom of the mosquito killer.

Mosquito repellent lamp uses sound waves to repel mosquitoes.

4, catnip In fact, catnip is not only particularly attractive to cats, but also has the effect of repelling mosquitoes. However, the mosquito repellent ability of catnip is limited, and it can play a mosquito repellent role in a small range.

5. Turn on the air conditioner. Mosquitoes are afraid of cold. If the temperature is too low, there will be no mosquitoes.

In summer, I usually turn on the air conditioner when I sleep at night. There are really no mosquitoes in the room. Even if there are mosquitoes, I guess they are hiding somewhere, because there will still be one or two mosquitoes flying around the room when the air conditioner is not turned on.

If there are only one or two mosquitoes, just kill them. After all, mosquitoes now feel a little stupid, can't fly high, and are easily eliminated. At least the mosquitoes in my room can't escape from my palm, and they can be caught as soon as they are caught.

6. Mosquito repellent products harmful to cats and harmless to dogs ① mosquito-repellent incense, electric mosquito-repellent incense liquid, electric mosquito-repellent incense tablets and pesticides containing pyrethroids.

This is harmful to cats, probably because cats lack glucuronidase and their liver has poor detoxification and metabolism ability. Therefore, families with cats should not use such mosquito repellent products. If they have to use them, they should be separated from cats, otherwise cats may be poisoned.

Dogs can be used at home, but just in case, it is best to pay attention to the time and concentration of use.

For example, I used mosquito-repellent incense when I went back to my hometown, because there were really too many mosquitoes in the countryside, especially when I saw mosquitoes flying home at night, and the indoor temperature was warmer, so mosquitoes liked it, so I ordered mosquito-repellent incense. But when I brought the dog in, the smell of the room faded after the mosquito-repellent incense was extinguished and the air conditioner was turned on.

② Plant mosquito repellent products, such as toilet water and essential oil.

It is difficult for cats to metabolize phenols, so it is best for cat families not to use mosquito repellent products containing plant essential oils, including citronella essential oil, mosquito-repellent candles, essential oils and herbal cream. If you use it outdoors, you must wash the sprayed skin repeatedly after going home to prevent it from being licked by cats when you come into contact with them.

These are relatively safe for dogs, but dogs may be particularly annoying because the smell is a bit irritating. My dog is, every time I use toilet water, it is far away from me. If I deliberately put my toilet water-coated arm in front of it, it will turn away immediately, but pay attention to the dog licking it when the smell is weak.

I use this mosquito repellent product, but I don't touch dogs. After all, I have no choice but to attract mosquitoes. I often go out to walk my dog at night and come back with a bag of itching. I can only prevent it in advance.

③ Mosquito repellent spray containing DEET.

This mosquito repellent is really effective, but it is toxic to cats, and it is best not to use it for dogs, because even people should not use it more than 30%.

That is, anything people use must be harmful to cats and dogs. Avoid it when using it. If it is harmless, be careful and avoid direct contact.
