Epilepsy Seminar: How to Prevent Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a disease with great harm, difficult to cure and high incidence. This is why people are afraid of epilepsy, so the prevention of epilepsy is of far-reaching significance. It is not only related to personal health, but also related to the progress of the whole medical field and the health problems of the whole society. Experts suggest that the prevention of epilepsy is mainly carried out from three aspects: one is to prevent the occurrence of epilepsy according to the cause; The second is to prevent the occurrence of epileptic symptoms for patients who already have epilepsy; The third is to reduce the adverse effects of epilepsy on patients' body, psychology and society. (1) Prevention of epilepsy means radical cure and prevention of epilepsy. Genetic factors make some children prone to convulsions, and seizures are caused by various environmental factors. In this regard, the importance of genetic counseling should be particularly emphasized. Family investigation should be carried out in detail to find out whether the parents, brothers and sisters and close relatives of the patients have epileptic seizures and their characteristics, and whether they have a history of febrile convulsions. Roughly estimate the possible incidence of their offspring and other relatives, pay attention to marriage and childbirth, avoid the birth of children with epilepsy, and improve the quality of the population. For some serious genetic diseases that can cause mental retardation and epilepsy, prenatal diagnosis or neonatal screening should be carried out to decide to terminate pregnancy or early treatment. For secondary epilepsy, we should prevent its specific causes, pay attention to maternal health before delivery, reduce infection, nutritional deficiency and various systemic diseases, and make the fetus less adversely affected. Preventing delivery accidents and neonatal birth injuries is one of the important causes of epilepsy, and avoiding birth injuries is of great significance to prevent epilepsy. If pregnant women can be regularly examined, new delivery methods can be implemented and dystocia can be handled in time, neonatal birth injuries can be avoided or reduced. We should pay enough attention to high fever and cold syncope in infants, try our best to avoid seizures, and immediately control them with drugs. We should actively prevent and treat children's central nervous system diseases and reduce sequelae in time. Doing a good job in the health care of pregnant women and paying attention to nurturing and protecting the fetus are of great significance for preventing epilepsy, because some epilepsy occurs shortly after the birth of the child, and many of them are caused by human factors such as women's neglect of mental conditioning and insufficient diet and nutrition during pregnancy. Therefore, the ancients said that epilepsy occurred in the fetal period. Therefore, we should pay attention to raising and protecting the fetus, which can not only make the mother healthy, but also make the fetus develop well, and avoid becoming a child prone to epilepsy after birth due to congenital deficiency. (2) Prevention of epileptic symptoms mainly refers to comprehensive treatment of children with epilepsy to control the seizure by avoiding the inducing factors of epilepsy. Statistics show that the recurrence rate of patients after the first attack is 27% ~ 82%, and it seems that most patients will relapse after a single attack. Therefore, it is particularly important to prevent the recurrence of epileptic symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary to create a good living environment for patients, so that patients can develop good living habits and avoid emotional excitement, mental tension, overwork, improper diet and special physical and chemical stimulation. Epilepsy patients should seize the opportunity to make diagnosis, determine clinical types and treat as soon as possible. The earlier the treatment, the smaller the brain injury, the less recurrence and the better the prognosis. It is necessary to use drugs correctly and rationally, adjust dosage in time, pay attention to individualized treatment, take a long course of treatment, slow down the withdrawal process, and adhere to the law of taking drugs. If necessary, evaluate the efficacy of the drugs used and monitor the blood drug concentration. Don't throw drugs around, and don't use drugs indiscriminately. It is also of great significance to remove or alleviate the primary diseases that cause epilepsy, such as intracranial space-occupying diseases, metabolic abnormalities, infections, etc. (3) Reduce the sequela of epilepsy. Epilepsy is a chronic disease, which can last for several years or even decades, thus causing serious adverse effects on patients' physical, mental, marital and socio-economic conditions. In particular, many complicated social problems, such as deep-rooted social prejudice and public discriminatory attitude, patients' misfortune and frustration in family relations, school education and employment, and restrictions on cultural and sports activities, will not only make patients feel ashamed and pessimistic, seriously affect their physical and mental development, but also plague their families, teachers, doctors and nurses, and even society itself. This social problem caused by epilepsy is the key to whether people can overcome epilepsy, but people's understanding, research and solution to this problem are far less than the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy itself, which is a great regret in epilepsy research. Therefore, many scholars have emphasized that the prevention of social sequelae of epilepsy is as important as the prevention of the disease itself. Epilepsy sequela belongs to the patient's body and the whole society, which needs the understanding and support from all walks of life to minimize the social sequela of epilepsy. Experts believe that preventing epilepsy from these three aspects can greatly reduce the incidence of epilepsy. Prevention of epilepsy is a problem that everyone can't ignore. Healthy people need to know more about the prevention of epilepsy. Don't be indifferent if you are not harmed by the disease!
