According to legend, Meilongwei is a place where plums fall. There are plum trees on the top of Mei Feng, and there are tree tails on Meichong Mountain, with sand ridges in the middle, which looks like falling plums. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, when Zou and Cai settled in the east and west sides of Shalong, they were called "Meilong". It is also said that Meichong Mountain is shaped like a plum, and there are sand ridges at the foot of the mountain, so it is called "Meilong".
