On May 28th, 2008, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Astronomical Observatory and the Astronomical Joint Research Center of Guizhou University, with Yan Jun as the director.
On July 4, 2008, the two sides signed an agreement to jointly train graduate students, and Guizhou University will send 2 to 5 graduate students to study at the National Astronomical Observatory every year.
On February 26th, 2008, 65438, a grand groundbreaking ceremony was held for the FAST project in Pingtang, Guizhou. On the same day, Meng Qiliang, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, and Academician Zhan, Vice President of China Academy of Sciences unveiled the National Astronomical Observatory-Guizhou University Astronomical Joint Research Center, which was formally established.
