How to treat thyroid nodules?

① Substantive single nodule

If the single thyroid nodule is hot after radionuclide scanning, it is less likely to become cancerous and does not need surgical treatment. If it's a cold nodule, more surgery is needed. All solitary nodules with rapid development and hard texture, nodules with enlarged cervical lymph nodes, or solitary nodules with children are more likely to evolve into malignancy. Therefore, I suggest that you should have surgery as soon as possible when you encounter these situations.

② Nodular goiter

Traditionally, the incidence of cancer with multinodular goiter is lower than that with single nodular goiter. Moreover, experts use high-resolution ultrasound to find that many single nodules are actually multiple nodules. Therefore, experts believe that there is little difference in cancer incidence between the two.

③ Small thyroid nodules

A very small thyroid nodule was unexpectedly found in the physical examination. If there are no special malignant signs, there is generally no need for special treatment, just regular follow-up. For large nodules that change in a short period of time, it is suggested that fine needle biopsy can be done under ultrasound, and then whether surgery is needed can be decided according to cytological examination.

④ Radioactive nodule

Patients who have received radiotherapy in the head and neck are prone to thyroid cancer. As early as five to thirty years after radiotherapy, if thyroid nodules appear, under normal circumstances, it is also recommended that you conduct fine needle biopsy to confirm whether there is malignancy.
