Chongqing Three Gorges Medical College was established in 195 1, located in Wanzhou District, Chongqing. It is a medical college approved by Chongqing Municipal People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. In 2006, the original Wanzhou Health School and the original Wanxian Chinese Medicine School were merged and upgraded. The school is an excellent doctoral education and training program unit, and it is the "National Training Base for Skilled Talents in Nursing Field" determined by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.

The school was selected as the second batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units, high-level vocational schools and professional construction plans by the Ministry of Education. Since 20 19, the university and Chongqing Three Gorges University have jointly started the undergraduate major of "3+2 through training plan". In July 2020, the school was approved to jointly train two-year undergraduate students majoring in pharmaceutical engineering and bioengineering with Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences and Yangtze Normal University respectively.
