The professors who avoided the valley for health preservation are all dead.
Some people say: "People can keep healthy for a long time", while others say: "If you don't eat for seven days, you will die". Which of these two seemingly contradictory statements is correct? In fact, both statements are wrong.

Our understanding of "food deprivation" means not eating, that is, not eating. Indeed, in ancient times, breaking grain was considered to have the function of health preservation, and modern science also confirmed that breaking grain can activate autophagy and have a certain positive effect on health. But the term "food deprivation" or "food deprivation" here refers to "a period of time" or "a short period of time", and it is absolutely wrong to say that "people can be deprived of food for a long time". Since people can't eat without eating for a long time, why are there records of Taoist priests taking food for a long time in ancient books? There is actually a difference between the "crossing the valley" mentioned here and the "crossing the valley" we understand.

The earliest statement of "fasting" did not mean fasting, but "not eating whole grains", so the early "fasting" was also called: fasting, fasting or stopping.

In other words, in the early days, it didn't mean eating nothing, just not eating whole grains, but using drugs and food to satisfy hunger. Nobody can stand not eating for a year or so. Since people have to eat, where is the limit of hunger? Is it true that you will die without eating for seven days? "If you don't eat for seven days, you will die" can be regarded as an experience summary of the ancients, which means that many people died without eating for seven days during the famine. People have seen this phenomenon and summed it up as experience. But ancient times are different from modern times. Due to low productivity, people's daily diet is low in nutrition and calorie intake, and their physical condition and energy reserve cannot be compared with modern people, so their ability to resist hunger is naturally inferior.

In modern society, a healthy person will not die if he doesn't eat for a week, so there must be examples.

As early as 2003, David Bryan, a famous American magician, took a hunger adventure on the Thames in London. He locked himself in a transparent glass box and broadcast live for 24 hours. During this time, he only drank water and didn't eat anything. In the end, he managed to stay in the box for 44 days. After completing the challenge, his physical indicators are basically intact, only losing 20 pounds. This fully shows that as long as people have water, even if they don't eat, they can survive for a long time, more than 7 days. So how long can people insist on not eating? Does long-term hunger affect health? This question is not difficult to answer, because as early as 1944, humans conducted a hunger experiment.

From 65438 to 0944, Dr. Case of the University of Minnesota recruited 36 volunteers to carry out an unprecedented hunger experiment, with the purpose of studying what would happen to people's body and mind in a long-term hunger environment.

There is no doubt that the experiment is dangerous for volunteers, so all the subjects are healthy young men aged 22-33, and they are required to sign an agreement not to be responsible for the experiment. The experiment lasted for a year. In the first three months, the experimenters will receive a normal diet, while in the middle six months, their food will gradually decrease, and in the last three months, the normal diet will be restored again, and participants can quit the experiment at any time.

In the first three months, all volunteers' diets were adjusted to the same state. In addition, everyone must complete the prescribed learning, work, social and sports tasks every day.

Three months soon ended, the experiment entered the second stage, and the diet began to be limited. At first, the food supply was good, including potatoes, cabbage and whole wheat bread. Then it gradually became harsh. A month later, it began to imitate the food structure of concentration camps during World War II, with only a small piece of bread and some bean soup for each person every day. However, this is not over yet. With the progress of the experiment, the diet was further compressed, and finally, people could only drink water.

At the end of the experiment, only 36 volunteers participated in the experiment 1 1. Don't get me wrong, they didn't die, they just voluntarily quit the experiment.

At this point, the remaining volunteers are all skinny. Although they returned to a normal diet in the last three months, their bodies did not return to what they were before the experiment began, but they produced a lot of fat. It can be seen that the body's ability to store fat in a long-term hunger environment has become stronger. The physical changes are not the most terrible, but psychologically, these volunteers have a serious tendency to depression, and after many years of experiments, they can't stand the feeling that there is nothing in their mouths, either smoking or chewing gum, and they will feel uneasy after a short pause. It can be seen that long-term hunger is very terrible, which will cause serious harm to people's health and psychology, and it is unwise to try to lose weight by dieting, because your body will accumulate fat more easily.
