What is the origin of the legend of Zi Long Lake in Bengbu?
According to the book of Fengyang in the apocalypse of Ming Dynasty, it used to be a depression, and the Huai River flowed backwards until Xujiaqiao and Wang Yang, thus forming a lake. However, its water source also comes from many streams and bays between Fenghuang Mountain, Ant Mountain, Meihua Mountain, Donglu Mountain and Xilu Mountain. It was first called the "Zilong River" formed by the confluence of Jiulong water.

The lower reaches become a lake in the rainy season, so it is called "Zi Long Lake". There are two legends about its name: farmers by the lake called it "Zi Long Lake" to commemorate the "Shuanglong Rain" to alleviate the drought; Zhu Yuanzhang's boy boated on the lake and fell off the pole, turning the dragon into heaven, hence the name "Zi Long Lake".
