How old is the oldest monk in ancient temples?
Modern monks Xu Yun and Dashang were born on August 27th (July 29th in the summer calendar) in 1840 (the 20th year of Qing Daoguang) and died on October 13th (September 12th in the summer calendar) in 1959 (the 48th year of the Republic of China). According to China's traditional habit of calculating age (nominal age), the world life expectancy is 120 years.

In the history of our country, there was also a monk from Zhaozhou in Tang Dynasty who lived to 120 years old (AD 778-897), but there was no chronology to check, so it was difficult to explore his health preservation method, so there was no theory.

"The Living Sutra of Maitreya" records: "The so-called four great monks, namely, Sakyamuni Sakyamuni, Juntu Hudanbhikkhu, Bintou Lubikkhu, and Luo Yun (Luoluo) Bhikkhu, need all my methods if they are nirvana, and then they will be nirvana."

"Sharifutsu Wen Jing" also recorded: "After my death, four monks, namely Mahagaya, Bintulu, Juntupotan and Lolo, lived in the mud and taught me Buddhism." These four arhats were appointed to the world at the same time, so later generations enshrined them as a group.
