A comparison between Guangzhou and Shenzhen from the perspective of civilians
Lead: Written in the fifth year of coming to Shenzhen.

Unconsciously, I have been working in Shenzhen for the fifth year, and I have always wanted to write about this city, but I can't start. I always feel that my understanding of it is not comprehensive enough. Take advantage of this special Spring Festival in 2020 to give it a try.

Four first-tier cities, namely, Beishangguangshen, Hong Kong, Puning, Hangzhou and Wuhan, have all lived there. They were born and raised in Guangzhou, Shenzhen entered the fifth year, and Puning lasted for half a year. Others range from 65,438+0-3 months.

I lived in Guangzhou and Shenzhen for the longest time. There are still many differences between these two seemingly similar southern cities. The following is a brief summary and comparison from the perspective of civilians:

Guangzhou covers an area of 7249.2 square kilometers, with a permanent population of14.498 million and a floating population of 10 million.

Shenzhen: the area is 1997.3 square kilometers, the permanent population is12.528 million, and the floating population is over 7 million.

The permanent population of Shenzhen is not much different from that of Guangzhou, but the land area of Shenzhen is less than one third of that of Guangzhou, so Shenzhen is actually a very crowded city, which needs more high-rise buildings and is also a city that is gradually "Hong Kong-oriented".

Urban positioning

Guangzhou: the first city in southern China in modern times, the "southern gate" to the outside world, the only big port in the world that will not decline in 2000, the capital of Guangdong Province, the transportation hub city of the Pearl River Delta and the international business center.

Shenzhen: the circle painted by Comrade Xiaoping, the window of reform and opening up, the municipality directly under the Central Government of Guangdong Province, the city of scientific and technological innovation, and the pioneering demonstration area of Socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Guangzhou is a senior first-line brother, and Shenzhen is a new first-line brother. Although Shenzhen has surpassed Guangzhou through the Internet, I personally think this should be comprehensively compared.

economic structure

Guangzhou: The industrial economy includes industry, trade and services, finance, agriculture, transportation and postal services, information, construction and real estate, and foreign economic relations and trade.

Shenzhen: the industrial structure is "three-oriented": the economic growth is dominated by emerging industries, the industry is dominated by advanced manufacturing, and the tertiary industry is dominated by modern service industries. The four pillar industries are cultural and creative industries, high-tech industries, modern logistics industry and financial industry; Strategic emerging industries include biological industry, new energy industry and Internet industry.

Guangzhou's industrial structure is relatively rich, while Shenzhen is relatively single; Guangzhou has a comprehensive high score and Shenzhen has a single high score. Both have a good business environment, but Shenzhen is more suitable for ambitious entrepreneurs.

urban communications

Guangzhou: Public transportation is developed and convenient. After the monthly 15 train trips, Yangchengtong will give a 60% discount, which is more favorable for students and the elderly. However, there are traffic jams during rush hours. Poor urban planning, many one-way streets in the old city, narrow roads, serious traffic jams in many sections, stagnant water in rainy days, tight parking spaces and high parking fees, pragmatic Guangzhou people prefer to take public transport, saving time and money.

Shenzhen: 15% discount for buses. In the city where the subway is built at the latest in the first line, some subway stations line up outside the subway entrance during peak hours, and there are bus seats most of the time, but the driver's driving skills test his heart. Due to excellent urban planning and the implementation of the strictest traffic rules in China, traffic jams are relatively few, parking fees are relatively cheap, and more people tend to drive. In addition, young people in Nanshan District are also popular with electric scooters ~

Generally speaking, the urban transportation cost in Shenzhen is relatively high.

Intercity traffic

Guangzhou: a famous transportation hub city and a sister city of Greater Bay Area, especially Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan and Zhongshan.

Shenzhen: Adjacent to Hong Kong, it is not a dream to go back and forth on the same day. Going to Dongguan, Huizhou and Hong Kong is particularly friendly, but the current situation in Hong Kong ...

In the future, the traffic in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be more and more developed and convenient, so there is not much difference between them.

household registration system

Guangzhou: It is more difficult for the aborigines to transfer their ownership than Shenzhen.

Shenzhen: In the stage of actively attracting talents, qualified talents with high academic qualifications (bachelor degree or above and under 30 years old) are subsidized by the government, and young people are friendly with fresh graduates.

The urban household registration policy is adjusted every year, but Guangzhou and Shenzhen are generally much friendlier than Beijing and Shanghai.

government organization

Both of them have gradually transformed into service-oriented government agencies, with relatively friendly attitudes and little difference, but the civil servants in Shenzhen are younger and more efficient, and many things can be done in the same day, much better than Beijing!

city planning

Guangzhou: The super line is the worst, and the road idiot is unfriendly. Administrative districts are mainly divided according to functions, which leads to the concentration of population flow and the problem of traffic jam has not been cured.

Shenzhen: More modern. Administrative districts are mainly divided into industries. Public facilities are relatively complete to meet the needs of daily life. There is basically no need to cross regions. The road is wide and square, and the road is friendly.

Urban planning is definitely that the newer the city, the more it meets the needs of social development, but at that time, the urban planners in Guangzhou lacked long-term development vision, and the traffic problem has never been cured.

Climate environment

Guangzhou: by the river, the water quality is poor; Every spring, Nantian returns. Compared with Shenzhen, it is 1-2 in summer and 1-2 in winter, which is humid and sultry, with more cockroaches and mosquitoes.

Shenzhen: offshore, with good water quality; The weather is sunny, the seaside is windy, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is large. Compared with Guangzhou, it is cooler in summer, wetter and warmer in winter, and there are relatively few cockroaches and mosquitoes. Visual inspection is the only first-tier city in China without smog.

Personally, the climate in Shenzhen is more livable and humanized.

living conditions

Guangzhou: House price and rent are the friendliest. There are many villages in the city, which are friendly to new immigrants, but a large number of old people are poor and have poor living environment. In addition, because of historical precipitation, there are not many historical sites but there are still some.

Shenzhen: 20 19 is the only city with rising house prices, and house prices in some areas are close to Hong Kong; Due to the short development history, urban villages and old urban villages are greener than other super-first-line updates, and the living environment is relatively better, but the threshold for getting on the bus is getting higher and higher, which is unfriendly to young people. Historical sites ... Except Nantou Ancient City and dapeng ancient city, I haven't seen many for the time being.

Medical condition

Guangzhou: The medical service ranks third in China, and many well-known hospitals, Zhong Nanshan, completely crush Shenzhen.

Shenzhen: "first-line economy, third-line medical care", the city is young and inexperienced, and ordinary ailments can't be cured. Most people choose to go back to their hometown or go to Guangzhou and Hong Kong for treatment. On the other hand, too much money is paramount, and medical ethics are not good, which makes people chilling. Medical care can't rise by spending money or digging a few talents. It needs the coordinated accumulation of the whole system, which is not optimistic in the short term and completely defeats Guangzhou.

People in Shenzhen medical system generally feel that they are too greedy for money and have no basic professional ethics. Even if they go to the drugstore to buy medicine, they simply recommend it to you. This disregard for the patient's life is terrible and must be cured quickly.

educational resources

Guangzhou: The main concentration of key middle schools and universities in Guangdong Province, as well as the university town, the distribution of educational resources is fairly average, and it can't beat Shenzhen at all.

Shenzhen: The first line is the worst, none of them. There are only 1 universities, and good public schools are mainly concentrated in Luohu and Futian, where educational resources are scarce and unevenly distributed. In recent years, new campuses have been opened continuously, but it will take at least six years to test its teaching strength. A large number of private schools are varied and have uneven levels. In addition, there are few high schools, and the initial increase in cities is less than 50%. The competition is fierce. Those who have not been admitted to high school will either leave their jobs or study abroad. But! The students who can be admitted to TOP3 High School are excellent, especially Shenzhen Middle School 1, the top 5 in China and the six famous schools in Guangzhou. On the other hand, the teachers in Shenzhen are relatively young and their quality level is uneven. Recently, the whole country hired talents with high salaries and brought a bunch of well-known universities to run branch schools. However, education is not a pure waste of money industry, and it is difficult to surpass Guangzhou in the short term.

Looking at the whole country, Guangdong's educational resources are not top-notch, and Shenzhen is even weaker. For an ordinary family in Shenzhen, housing, education and medical care are three mountains, all of which are scarce and unevenly distributed. The government's investment in education and medical care is not as much as that in Guangzhou. No wonder there are more and more unmarried and infertile people in Shenzhen.

language environment

Guangzhou: As a dialect, Cantonese is still the mainstream. As long as one person in the room doesn't understand Cantonese, Mandarin will continue to be spoken no matter how bad it is. New immigrants generally take the initiative to learn Cantonese to integrate into the culture, or at least "listen without speaking".

Shenzhen: There are people from all over the country. There are no dialects, and Mandarin is the dominant language. Generally, Cantonese can only be heard in Futian, Luohu and Shekou, unlike southern cities at all.

food culture

Guangzhou: "Food is in Guangzhou", Cantonese cuisine is in power, and it has its own set of food evaluation standards. It disdains Michelin and has a stronger market flavor.

Shenzhen: Haichuan Bai Na, there are delicious foods all over the country, and there is always one that can let you taste the taste of your hometown; More and more well-known chain brands or online celebrity stores prefer Shenzhen to open the South China market. It is estimated that more Michelin restaurants will land in Shenzhen during this period due to the riots in Hong Kong.

There are delicious foods in both places, but Guangzhou is more grounded and has more markets, and Shenzhen has more choices and more commercial flavor.

recreational activities

Guangzhou: Outdoor activities are mainly climbing (Baiyun) mountains, farms and Chimelong Paradise. Cultural activities are similar to those in Shenzhen, but after all, it is a city with cultural heritage, and there are still many activities and non-governmental organizations related to "Guangdong culture".

Shenzhen: Because of the sea, outdoor activities are similar to those in Hong Kong, such as beaches, sea fishing and yachting. The amusement park has Happy Valley and Window of the World. Climbing a mountain is a real mountain, which is very difficult. Guangzhou is a small hill, which is suitable for health preservation. Cultural activities are more colorful than those in Guangzhou and related to "Guangdong culture", but on a smaller scale.

The overall difference between the two places is not big, mainly outdoor activities, and cultural activities are still incomparable with Beijing and Shanghai. Personally, I prefer to watch concerts in Shenzhen, because they are all in the city center, with convenient transportation and convenient going to Hong Kong. Guangzhou Luogang is unfriendly to city people.

Speed is in Shenzhen-time is money and efficiency is life.

The efficiency of China's centralized system is gradually recognized and recognized by the world, and the speed of Shenzhen is n times that of China. As long as you have lived in Shenzhen, you will have some experience of "Shenzhen Speed". Dachong 20 15 is still the construction site. In a blink of an eye, Vientiane Xintiandi 20 18 opened, and now it is bustling. The efficiency of the government can be said to be the first in the country. When it comes to the landing project, it's done. It is precisely because everyone pays attention to efficiency that it is easier to get results in Shenzhen than in other cities. It is common sense to "do it first, then optimize the details", but the disadvantage is that many things are not pleasing in detail, and people with craftsman spirit may look down on them.

Getting rich overnight-the negative effect of "Shenzhen speed"

Shenzhen is a city that stimulates people's desire for money. The crazy economy in the past decade makes people feel that wealth comes instantly, and "getting rich overnight" seems to be the belief of most Shenzhen people. Many people often come to Shenzhen to "struggle" for several years, accumulate wealth instantly, go wherever they can get money, and give up immediately when they encounter some setbacks or find it difficult to get money. In the early years, the economy grew wildly, and a batch of nouveau riche was born. Risk projects were financed in a short time, with a value exceeding 1 100 million yuan. Some companies have only been listed for three years, and the myth of "getting rich overnight" is born every day, which leads many people to think that money is easy to come by, ignoring "slow work and fine work" and quality, and the overall atmosphere is very impetuous.

Strive hard-Shenzhen people may be more diligent than you think.

Although Shenzhen is an "uneducated" city, it is interesting that bookstores, book bars, libraries and coffee shops in Shenzhen are always crowded with hard-working young people. Some work overtime, some study for the exam, some conceive or prepare entrepreneurial projects, and everyone is full of fighting spirit and enthusiasm, constantly investing in themselves and improving their abilities. Even the nouveau riche who get rich because of demolition, a considerable proportion of people will choose to continue their studies, enrich themselves and firmly grasp this godsend luck. In order to make their lives more substantial and meaningful, many relocated households still choose to devote themselves to their beloved career, even if it is not a tall career-because the overall atmosphere in Shenzhen is "hard work".

Money worship-money that can't be released without culture.

I agree with several friends who are also from super-first-tier cities that Shenzhen people are generally keen to show off their wealth, and discuss the reasons behind it. Everyone thinks that this city really lacks cultural precipitation. Rich people really have nothing to show off except their wealth. There are also many rich people who have begun to study "useless things" and pursue "quality life", but they are still in a state of copying mechanically or importing. I believe that there will always be real cultural precipitation after a period of time.

Then, some people will only judge a person by what is outside. Once attending a China Merchants Association, a Guangzhou boss deliberately dressed casually, asked his assistant to put on a suit and sit in position C, and sat behind him by himself pretending to be a subordinate. As soon as the assistant sat down, a bunch of people ran around flattering the real assistant, leaving the real boss hanging aside; Finally, the assistant couldn't hold on with guilt, pointing to the humble uncle behind him and saying, "He is my boss." The scene is awkward. This kind of story can be seen everywhere in Shenzhen. They may not know that birds of a feather flock together. Pretending will only attract people of the same kind in the end, which is useless. In this regard, Shenzhen still lacks cultural background and self-confidence.

Cultural Tolerance —— The Other Side of Lack of Historical Precipitation

Although compared with Beishangguang, Shenzhen is a city lacking historical precipitation, its positive role is to be particularly tolerant of foreign cultures-Shenzhen people, including your original cultural customs. So in Shenzhen, you can eat special foods from all over the country, experience different regional cultures and let a hundred flowers blossom. I believe it is only a matter of time before Shenzhen gradually precipitates its own culture.

From youth to middle age

As the youngest city in China and even in the world, it's hard to see old people with gray hair in buses, subways or parks. I even wonder if there are any nursing homes in Shenzhen. This has also kept me energetic since I came to Shenzhen. I really feel young and full of longing for the future. When I go to other cities for business or tourism, I will feel that "this city is really old" ...

Because I am young, I don't have too many solidified thinking and institutional constraints. It ignited his passion to strive and innovate as much as possible. Although it occasionally gets anxious and confused, it can immediately get up and stand up again when it falls, and it can immediately correct and learn lessons when it makes mistakes, because it really doesn't have too many burdens and concerns. In the past 40 years, this young city has made great strides like chicken blood. Its GDP once surpassed Hong Kong and Guangzhou and became a new super city attracting worldwide attention. Now, it has a feeling of entering middle age-all the young people who first settled in Shenzhen have married and settled down, with old people in the world and young people in the world. This city, which once did not need to look back and forth, began to have its own troubles.

Yes, the city is no longer so young. When people reach middle age, they have concerns, need to slow down and think, need to be more cautious and need to take on more responsibilities. In 20 18, I began to feel that the city was gradually slowing down, and I began to explore how to make steady progress in the future. Although it is in a painful period of transformation, I personally tend to believe that Shenzhen will be transformed successfully, because from the government to every citizen, you can feel their passionate fighting spirit and strong execution, which is difficult for other cities to understand. In the future, "fast" may no longer be the most important thing, but I always believe that Shenzhen will be transformed successfully because it is a vibrant city.
