Overview of Lorenzo Oil (1992)

This film is based on a real case in America. 1984, Lorenzo, the six-year-old son of the Auden couple, suffered from a rare ALD, which the doctor declared incurable. However, his parents refused to give up hope, challenged the shortage of medical science in various ways, and invented a special formula of oil for Lorenzo to eat. Finally, he was saved from the brink of death and benefited other sick family members. The director introduced the whole event in a down-to-earth and meticulous way in a semi-documentary way. The whole movie is not dramatic, as if recording how Auden and his wife struggled for their son's illness and how to learn medical knowledge to help themselves. For the general audience, too much discussion on medical principles in the film is really boring, but the high devotion and sincerity of nick nolte and Susan Sarandon have successfully made up for the lack of entertainment in this film and conducted some positive social education.
