Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University is an ordinary full-time undergraduate independent college founded by Jishou University in September 2002 with the approval of Hunan Provincial Education Department and Hunan Provincial People's Government and the confirmation of the Ministry of Education. The college is located in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, a famous international tourist city. At present, there are 2,543 full-time undergraduates, with faculty 152, campus area of 800 mu, building area of 80,000 square meters, library collection160,000 volumes, and teaching instruments worth146,500 yuan. At present, it is the only China Certified Information Security Professional (CISP) in Hunan Province.

Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University now has 20 majors, including English, tourism management, journalism, economics, computer science and technology, electronic information engineering, musicology and art design, covering five disciplines, including economics, management, science, law and literature. In terms of education and teaching, the college relies on the existing disciplines and teachers of Jishou University, and at the same time hires well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad all the year round, draws on and adopts advanced teaching management models at home and abroad, integrates high-quality resources, innovates school-running models, attaches importance to cultivating students' comprehensive quality and improves the quality of education and teaching. At the same time, Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University adheres to the concept of internationalization, actively introduces the international higher education teaching system through cooperation with the University of Utah in the United States, the University of Vienna in Austria and the Giant Buddha University in Korea, and trains compound, extroverted and high-quality professional managers to meet the needs of WTO with internationally accepted norms.

Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University adheres to the school-running policy of establishing a school with quality, strengthening the school with talents and running the school by experts, strictly follows the requirements of the Ministry of Education on running an independent college, realizes "four independences", and implements the dean responsibility system and faculty appointment system under the leadership of the board of directors. It has made bold exploration and beneficial practice in the new mode of education and teaching management, which has been fully affirmed by the higher authorities. Vice Minister Zhao of the Ministry of Education and Vice Governor of Hunan Province paid full attention to the construction and running of Jishou University, and Hunan TV Station, Zhangjiajie TV Station, Hunan Daily, xiaoxiang morning herald, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily, Zhangjiajie Daily, Hunan Education Information Network, and Red Net made many publicity reports about the college. At present, the college has acquired 2 1.36 mu of land in Zhangjiajie, and is carrying out large-scale campus construction, striving to build Zhangjiajie College of Jishou University into a new comprehensive university with high school quality and distinctive features within 3-5 years.
