Yumin Town is a traditional pig-raising town. Every family has been raising several pigs every year. Yumin Town regards the development of pigs as the top priority for farmers to increase their income. While increasing the number of healthy pigs of farmers, we will pay close attention to the cultivation of large-scale farmers and the construction of standardized breeding communities, provide quality services such as land, capital and technology for large-scale pig farmers, and formulate incentive measures. Where the pig industry is developed, temporary land occupation fee, farmland occupation tax and examination and approval fee shall be reduced or exempted to encourage large-scale development of pig production. At the same time, strive to build a brand of lean meat and fat pigs. Now six standardized breeding communities, including Gardenia Dam, Shifo Temple and Zujiaba, have been built, and the first professional pig cooperative in the county has been established. Most farmers in the town slaughter pigs 10 or more per year, of which more than 300 slaughter pigs 100 or more, 20 slaughter pigs 100 or more, and 4 slaughter pigs over 3,000. 62,000 live pigs were slaughtered, and the average number of pigs slaughtered by farmers was 1.8. Because all high-quality lean pigs are widely sold in Guangdong, Hunan, Guizhou and other places, the market price per kilogram is higher than that of local pigs in 2 yuan. The town also raises high-quality sows on a large scale to ensure the quality of provenance and pigs. At present, it can breed 3,420 sows and sell 85,000 piglets, which is a veritable hometown of pig raising in the city.

While vigorously developing pigs, Yumin Town encourages farmers to raise small poultry on a large scale, and raises chickens, ducks and geese in various modes, such as free-range farming by farmers, under-forest farming, combination of fish and ducks, and large-scale farming by specialized households. This year, there were 6,543,800 small poultry in the town, including 26 households with more than 5,000 and 2 households with more than 50,000. There are two large families with an annual hatching capacity of 900,000. Hu Houji, a large incubator in Shifosi Village, invested 200,000 yuan to expand incubators and added 300,000 incubators at the end of 2007.
