The Yangtze River has reached the level of no fish, and the fishing ban period is tentatively implemented 10 year.
The Yangtze River and the Yellow River are two major rivers in China. With the continuous development, the rivers are gradually destroyed. Recently, we know that the Yangtze River has reached the point of no fish, so we will follow the current urban culture to see if the Yangtze River has reached the point of no fish, and tentatively implement the 10 year fishing ban plan!

The Yangtze River has reached the level of "no fish" and temporarily closed to fishing 10 year.

It is understood that before the end of 20 19, all fishermen in the aquatic life reserve will be retired and take the lead in implementing a comprehensive fishing ban; Before the end of 2020, all the fishermen in the main stream and important tributaries of the Yangtze River except the protected areas will be retired, and the fishing ban will be temporarily implemented 10.

This unprecedented severe measure of "ten-year fishing ban" in the Yangtze River, which is being actively promoted, comes from the "Implementation Plan for Fishing Ban and Establishment of Compensation System in Key Waters of the Yangtze River Basin" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") jointly issued by many ministries and commissions at the beginning of this year.

The fish resources in the Yangtze River are seriously declining.

The Yangtze River is the largest river in China and one of the rivers with the richest aquatic life in the world. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 4,300 species of aquatic organisms in the Yangtze River basin, including more than 400 species of fish and more than 80 species of endemic fish/kloc-0. Protecting the biodiversity of the Yangtze River is related to the ecological security and long-term development of the country.

However, due to long-term human interference, the aquatic biological resources in the Yangtze River basin have been seriously declining. Among them, cold fishing and overfishing are one of the most important and direct factors that destroy aquatic biological resources.

According to reports, the resources of the "four major fish" (black carp, grass carp, silver carp and bighead carp) have shrunk sharply, and the number of fry has dropped by more than 90% compared with the 1950s, and the number of eggs laid has dropped from the highest of 65.438+02 billion to the lowest of less than 65.438+00 billion. In order to obtain fishing income, some fishermen began to use illegal means such as "electric poison bombing" and "fishing without households" to exhaust resources, and finally formed a vicious circle of "the more resources are fished, the more ecology is fished, and the more fishermen are fished".

Why ten years?

Take the four big fish as an example. They usually grow for four years before they mature sexually. After ten years of continuous fishing ban, these fish can breed for two or three generations, and the population can increase significantly.

In fact, in order to protect aquatic biological resources, China has long implemented fish resources protection systems such as closed fishing periods and closed fishing areas. Since 2003, the whole Yangtze River basin has been closed for three months every year. However, after three months of fishing suspension and fishing in July 1 day, the reproductive achievements of these three months were quickly consumed. Many fish were caught ashore just two or three months after birth, and the fish still could not reproduce and grow.

The three-month fishing ban every year has played an important role in conserving aquatic biological resources and protecting the ecological environment of the basin, but it has not fundamentally changed the general trend of the sharp decline of fishery resources in the Yangtze River. It is urgent to implement a comprehensive fishing ban for a period of 10 years on a larger scale and for a longer period of time, so as to leave more space and time for aquatic organisms in the Yangtze River to recuperate. The total fishing ban for 10 years is an important measure of historical significance to protect the Yangtze River ecosystem, which brings hope to protect many flagship species.
