Tertiary prevention and primary prevention in modern medicine
Primary prevention, also called etiological prevention, is the most active and effective preventive measure. It is necessary to prevent genetic pathogenic factors, get rid of bad habits, carry out systematic vaccination and enhance the body's resistance. This is the prevention before illness in traditional Chinese medicine.
Secondary prevention
Secondary prevention is also called "three early" prevention, which means early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. This is a preventive measure taken at the early stage of the disease. For chronic diseases, through general survey, screening, regular inspection and mass self-monitoring, patients with early diseases can be found early and treated in time. This is the prevention of diseases in traditional Chinese medicine.
Tertiary prevention
Tertiary prevention is also called rehabilitation. When the human body loses its ability to adjust and compensate for diseases, it will lead to disability or death. At this time, it is necessary to treat symptoms, reduce pain and prolong life, implement various rehabilitation measures, strive for no disability, no waste, and promote rehabilitation. This is the rehabilitation of Chinese medicine.
Sun Simiao, the drug king of the Tang Dynasty, was a famous doctor who attached great importance to disease prevention. He warned people to "eliminate diseases that have not occurred, cure diseases, and treat them before anything happens." Many people think that "being sick and not getting sick" means not getting sick. In fact, "disease-free" is also a kind of disease, which is a psychological and spiritual abnormal emotion and phenomenon caused by some behaviors, concepts, thoughts and emotions deviating from the normal range, but it does not show symptoms in physiology.
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the change of seven emotions affects the qi and blood circulation of human body, directly hurts the viscera, and leads to the lack of vital qi. The most important thing is that the seven emotions are sad first. Therefore, emotional abnormality is also a disease, that is, "a disease without disease." In modern medicine, they are diseases with psychological barriers.
So if the disease is not treated in time, it will develop into a disease that wants to get sick. According to modern medicine, it is a sub-health state. Although "craving" does not form organic lesions, it will make the whole body uncomfortable. It's actually the primary stage of the disease. If it is not treated in time, it will develop into "its own disease", and the reaction will form organic lesions in the body, such as stomach diseases, hepatitis and tumors.
Sun Simiao's treatment of "disease-free" mainly focuses on health preservation, disease prevention and early treatment, and summarizes a set of methods and measures for health preservation, disease prevention and treatment. Preparing a good prescription for emergencies has practical value from ancient times to the present.
Treating disease before it happens in TCM is not only disease-free and disease-prevention, but also psychological medicine (treating heart disease). Therefore, preventing diseases (heart disease) is the highest realm of Chinese medicine (medical treatment). The Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic says: "A Taoist knows astronomy from above, geography from below, and personnel from the middle, which can last for a long time." A qualified Chinese medicine practitioner should also have rich comprehensive knowledge in medicine, social science, natural science, astronomy, psychology and philosophy. Only by knowing astronomy, geography and personnel can you become a "doctor" who guides and saves lives.
Therefore, the ancients said, "If you are not a good doctor, you are a good doctor." A brilliant Chinese doctor can easily close the distance with the patient by asking questions with both eyes, especially pulse-taking. Coupled with amiable questions, the mental stress of the patient is relieved a lot at once. In the chat, starting with understanding the mental causes of patients, we use various psychological counseling therapies such as enlightenment, encouragement, suggestion and transfer to help patients eliminate mental disorders and achieve psychological balance.
From the meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine, "going to the doctor" should not only let patients dredge the trapped qi and blood again, but also teach people not to block the qi and blood channel from the beginning. This is the real "go to the doctor" to diagnose the disease.
