When will rapeseed be planted?
Most people think it was planted in autumn. In fact, there are two main rape areas in China. The Yangtze River basin is generally planted in autumn and harvested around May of the following year, which is called winter rape area.
And some high-latitude and high-altitude areas in Northeast China, Northwest China and Inner Mongolia are called spring rape areas, which are sown in spring and harvested in September.
Winter rape can also be sown in spring, and the spring sowing plastic film cultivation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River can achieve the same high yield as greenhouse seedling cultivation.
1. Winter rape
Winter rape is usually sown in August-10. In areas with higher altitude and latitude, the temperature drops rapidly in autumn. The sowing period is from August to September, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River generally sow at 9- 10.
The sowing date is implemented according to the standard of strong seedlings in winter: generally, the height of seedlings is about 20 cm, with 6-8 true leaves, thick leaves, short petiole, no elongation of roots, and the diameter is more than 0.6cm, and the root system of seedlings is developed.
2. Time for planting rape in the Yangtze River basin
Rape can also be sown immediately after soil thawing in the Yangtze River basin in spring, and the general plastic film planting can also obtain better yield, and the harvest period is 7- 10 days earlier than that of open planting.
We can also raise seedlings in greenhouses in winter and transplant them to the fields after the temperature rises. This is a remedial measure in the case of no sowing before winter or serious diseases and insect pests in wheat.
3. Spring rape
The sowing time in spring rape area is generally in April, and the growth period is longer, and the yield is better only once a year.
So, what should we pay attention to in the process of rape planting?
First, select improved varieties.
When selecting varieties, we should choose varieties with high quality, disease resistance, high yield and smoke resistance according to local conditions.
Second, seed treatment
Before planting, put the seeds in a sunny place to dry for about 4 hours, and then sow them, which will help kill the germs in the seeds and make the seeds germinate.
Third, the rape field arrangement.
If the vegetable field is in a low-lying place where water is easy to accumulate, it must be planted on the ridge, and the ditch should be dug to prevent the rape from being soaked in water in rainy days; If it is mountainous, it can be planted directly in a pond without ridge water.
Fourth, sow seeds.
It is best to plant it when the soil is wet after rain, so that the seeds will germinate without watering after planting; If the weather is dry, you must water it after planting to promote germination.
When sowing, chemical fertilizer or fully decomposed farmyard manure should be applied next to the seeds as base fertilizer.
Five, seedling management
Rapeseed needs less water at seedling stage and can be watered without drought. When 3-4 real leaves grow, it is necessary to carry out thinning, leaving about 3 seedlings in each pond
Topdressing should be carried out after thinning, which can be applied directly in rainy days or by dissolving urea in water.
Management of abstinence period of intransitive verbs
In order to prevent late lodging and late maturity of rape, fertilization should be applied to rape with poor growth and premature aging at the seedling stage.
