What is Ge Hong's historical achievement?
Ge Hong of the Eastern Jin Dynasty compiled famous medical works. Ge Hong is from Jurong, Jiangsu. I once worshipped Bao Liang, the magistrate of the South China Sea. Bao Liang is good at medicine and alchemy. Seeing that Ge Hong was open-minded and eager to learn, young and promising, he taught him the skills he had mastered without reservation. Ge Hong later practiced in Baopufeng, Maoshan, and lived in seclusion in Luofushan, Guangdong Province, specializing in alchemy, pharmacy and literary works until the end of his life.

The medical books compiled by Ge Hong, first of all Yu (volume 100), are a masterpiece of medical experience with great length. However, due to the voluminous volume of Fang Yuhan, it is inconvenient to carry, and it is difficult to find it quickly when it is needed urgently. Ge Hong copied the style of previous emergency prescriptions, adopted Fang Yuhan's tender essence, and compiled it into three volumes, also known as Elbow Emergency Prescription. The word "behind the elbow" means that it can be hung on the elbow, indicating that it is convenient to carry, and the title of "elbow backup first aid prescription" is very similar to the "first aid manual" mentioned in later generations.
