Nourishing qi generally refers to Taoist refining qi. Taoism's way of nourishing qi, that is, the so-called cultivation of qi, and books such as the Classic of Loyalty and Faith and the Outline of Yan's Cultivation in the Six Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties all specifically refer to the regimen of "clothing". Taoist qi has three different meanings, or three parts, all of which come from the essence theory of traditional Chinese medicine. One refers to breathing natural air, which is called "clearing the air". Second, it refers to the vitality of innate parents when they are masculine, which is called "innate essence". Three refers to "Shui Gu essence", or "acquired essence" and "acquired essence", which maintain human life activities through dietary substances. Taoism believes that the source of human vitality lies in the qi in the body, so it emphasizes maintaining and enriching the vitality in the body, hoping to achieve the purpose of eliminating diseases and prolonging life by nourishing qi. The most basic and important method of nourishing qi is the one formed by the Shangqing school on the basis of "learning", combined with guidance and massage. Taoism believes that "the human body is in a small world", "the feeling between heaven and man" and "the unity of heaven and man" can prolong life by inhaling the vital qi of the four seasons of heaven and earth and the essence of the sun, the moon and the stars. In the way of convincing people, the breath should be gentle and deep, which is in line with the degree of "deep breathing" proposed by the great master Zhuangzi.
