Emperor Jiajing (1507 ~ 1566), 152 1 ~ 1566 reigned for 45 years, ranking fifth in the history of China. Emperor Jiajing was born in Zhongxiang Palace. His father Xing Zhu Youxing was sealed in Changshou (now Zhongxiang, Hubei). After Zheng died in the 14th year (15 19), he became a director as a prince. Zheng De attacked the seal in sixteen years. In the same year, Wu Zong died. Since Wuzong had no children, Jiajing rushed to Beijing from Zhongxiang and succeeded to the throne with a testamentary edict, with the title Jiajing. Jiajing was a very talented emperor. At the beginning of his reign, he killed Wu Zongqin, trusted Qian Ning and others, returned some occupied private land, and wiped out more than 65,438+10,000 people in military schools. He initiated the "New Deal" period for more than 20 years by reforming the past shortcomings and revitalizing the discipline, and won the unanimous support of the government and the people. To some extent, it eased the very sharp social contradictions at that time. He also actively fought against Japanese pirates and Tatars. He once exempted the grain tax of the Huangdi Temple, and was later passed down as a beautiful talk. But Jiajing is also a stubborn and arbitrary person with a strong personality. In order to "respect personal relations" and "correct his name", he induced a political event that affected the whole government for three and a half years and was called "great etiquette" in history, and more than 200 civil and military officials were unfairly punished for it. As a generation of emperors, like all feudal emperors, he prayed for immortality and built tombs and palaces. He not only enjoyed himself very much before his death, but also pursued glory after his death. He is religious, especially alchemy. He ignored the state affairs and didn't see courtiers for more than 20 years, which enabled Yan Song to monopolize power and deepened the political and economic crisis in the Ming Dynasty. Not only was the "New Deal" not fully implemented, but the national situation was also declining, and Jiajing's politics finally ended in failure.
