According to "A Brief History of Clans" and "Tracing the Origin of Surnames", Emperor Zhuan Xu had great-grandson Lu Zhong, the third son of Lu Zhong, whose surname was Mei Mingkeng, who was sealed in Pengdi (now Xuzhou, Jiangsu) and established the Great Guo Peng, which was called Peng Zu in history, and was destroyed by Wang Shangwu in the last years of Shang Dynasty.
Guoyu Zheng Yu records that "Da Peng and Qian Wei were destroyed by Shang Dynasty". Later generations took the country as their surname and called it Peng.
Later, the spread and migration of Peng surname came from this branch. Many people named Peng respect Peng Zu as their ancestor.
