Dr. Guo Zhenyu, the first chairman of WSMI in China, proposed to designate July 24th as the International Day of Self-care (ISD), and based on the health care concept of "preventing diseases" in China traditional medicine, advocated that people all over the world should always pay attention to self-care and the health of themselves and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Background of establishment
With the development of society, economy and culture and the progress of medicine, the average life expectancy of human beings has been prolonged. At the same time, the number of deaths caused by chronic non-communicable diseases in the world has reached 63% of the total number of deaths. Chronic disease treatment has a long period and high cost, which brings more and more heavy burden to the medical security system of various countries and becomes a livelihood issue of global concern. It is more and more urgent to promote a project that can effectively improve people's self-health management level, so as to reduce medical expenses and government medical and health expenditure.
Today's people have realized the important influence of self-care behavior on people's health. According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, among the influencing factors of human health and longevity, heredity accounts for 15%, society accounts for 10%, medical care accounts for 8%, climate accounts for 7% and lifestyle accounts for 60%. Therefore, in 20 10, Dr. Guo Zhenyu proposed to the World Association of Self-medication (WSMI) that July 24th of each year be designated as the "International Self-care Day", and advocated people all over the world to improve their lifestyle and health level through self-care based on the health care concept of "preventing diseases" in TCM. This initiative has been actively supported and responded by WSMI member associations, and in 20 12, the International Day of Self-Care was officially launched around the world.
