Zhongxiang City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jingmen City, Hubei Province. In ancient times, it was called Ying. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it was the capital of Chu, and in the late Warring States Period, it was the capital of Chu. During the Three Kingdoms period, Wu built a stone city here. From the Western Jin Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, it was the seat of Chengtianfu, one of the three municipalities directly under the Central Government, with a recorded history of more than 2,700 years. In A.D. 153 1 year, Zhu Houzong, Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, was born and made a fortune here, which means "land of geomantic omen and auspicious bells" and gave the county name "Zhongxiang".
