Can China's Tai Ji Chuan really play?
Tai Ji Chuan's health-preserving function has been generally recognized by the world, but Tai Ji Chuan's martial arts has always been the focus of debate in martial arts fighting circles at home and abroad. Some traditional Tai Ji Chuan scholars insist that Tai Ji Chuan is a latecomer, using soft skills to attack Kung Fu. But more people are skeptical: Taiji's martial arts is only feasible in theory, and it may not be soft in actual combat. Although there is a legend in history that Yang Banhou and Hao Weizhen have repeatedly defeated masters of various factions, it is hard to see such an example at present.

Judging from the actual combat and various fighting techniques in contemporary Tai Ji Chuan, first of all, Mr. Wu Gongyi, the eldest son of Wu-style Tai Ji Chuan founder, and Chen, the head of Hong Kong White Crane Sect, are young and strong. They have systematically studied western fighting techniques and can make six punches a second. Mr. Wu Gongyi is thinner, more than 20 years older than Chen. At first glance, this is a completely different contest. But the result of actual combat is neck and neck. In the early 1950s, Mr Yan Gaozhi, a disciple of Tai Ji Chuan master Hao Weizhen, came to Shenyang to teach boxing for a living. Shenyang was once called Fengtian City. Because Zhang and his warlords, who were born in teh forest, had martial arts customs, many martial arts were taught in Shenyang. Among them, Li Guangpu, Sun Lutang, Cheng Yougong and Gong Baotian were famous. It is said that Du and Youlong, masters of natural doors, sent a collection to preach that Zhang Zhenzhi also had disciples in Shenyang. It has long been a fashion for local people to practice kicking the line, somersaulting and wrestling. Therefore, when foreign boxers come to Shenyang to find a job, they will inevitably compete with the top figures of various local sects. If their skills are a little worse, they will have to leave. After Mr. Yan arrived in Shenyang, he impressed many challengers with his superb internal skills, and also attracted some experts from various schools to learn from Tai Ji Chuan.

Since Tai Ji Chuan is so clever, why can't some people beat others after decades of practice? This has something in common with the principle of casting swords: the human body is like pig iron. After being smelted into steel, it must be treated with cold and heat, and then tempered to be smelted into a sword, while some people just stay and be satisfied with the result of being smelted into steel.

Looking at Tai Ji Chuan's traditional training methods, it is necessary to go through three stages of training in order to develop Tai Ji Chuan's Wushu.

First, in the walking stage, it takes several years to repeatedly correct the posture of walking with fists to make it conform to the eight essentials of posture. Among them, the key to practicing the five-bow spring force is to practice the strength of the spring bottom. If you don't go down, there will be no Gong Zhuang. When the posture of Eight is to be practiced behind you, you will have a feeling of being moved and enter the stage of knowing yourself.

Second, the skill stage: Hao Weizhen can shake an 80 kg iron 100 first. What kind of kung fu is this? Some people say that Tai Ji Chuan is an internal skill that combines boxing and kungfu, and practicing boxing is practicing kungfu. This is true, but it takes time. You can't let a person practice from his twenties to his forties! In order to accelerate the development of Tai Ji Chuan's offensive and defensive functions, it is necessary to intensify technical training. The skill cultivation of Taiji Chuan includes: shaking big poles, rubbing Tai Chi balls, punching hanging bags, punching thousands of layers of paper and so on.

3. Immortal stage: Kung Fu at this stage is Tai Chi without hands advocated by Master Yang Yuting. In the early 1980s, a master who had studied martial arts in Shenyang for decades was knocked to the ground by Mr. Wu a few feet away in Zizhuyuan Park when he visited Mr. Wang in Beijing. This is Tai Ji Chuan's magical kung fu. At this stage of boxing practice, you must not exert all your strength, but use air to move the boxing frame. The longer you walk, the better. All kinds of phenomena in boxing practice should be normal, and you should also abandon all kinds of skill training.

In a word, after entering the third stage according to the traditional Tai Ji Chuan training method, it is necessary to have a relatively stable living and training environment and sufficient training time to practice.
