What does Cimicifuga do?
The largest number of Chinese herbal medicines is Chinese herbal medicines, but there are actually many kinds of Chinese herbal medicines, which are generally classified according to different parts of Chinese medicine. For example, some Chinese medicines use seeds, some use roots and leaves, and Cimicifuga is a kind of plant medicine taking roots and leaves as medicine. So, what are the general effects and functions of Cimicifuga?

Overview of TCM

Cimicifuga is the rhizome of Cimicifuga macrophylla, a herb of Ranunculaceae. Pungent, sweet and slightly cold. Enter lung, spleen, large intestine and stomach meridian.

1. Eruption: used for exterior syndrome of wind-heat, measles and macula, such as (Yan's Xiaoer Decoction for Cimicifuga Gegen Decoction); And wind-heat cold, headache and sore throat. Such as (Acne Kernel Final Record Du Xuan Publishing Decoction).

2. Clearing away heat and toxic materials: used for headache, toothache, sore throat and sore mouth caused by Yangming stomach heat, such as (Wei Qing Powder and Burdock Decoction).

3. Shengyang Jieyu: It is used to treat shortness of breath, fatigue, uterine prolapse, proctoptosis and other symptoms caused by stagnation of middle qi, and has the function of clearing the qi of the spleen and stomach, such as Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (Shengyang Jieyu Decoction recorded by Shen Xi in medicine: Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Radix Bupleuri, Radix Platycodi and Cimicifuga).

Pharmacological identification

Bupleurum is effective in clearing away heat and is good at dealing with cold and heat, but its lifting power is not as good as that of Cimicifuga. Cimicifuga has weak expressive force and is often used as an auxiliary medicine for relieving exterior syndrome, which is good at ascending and descending.

clinical application

This product is mixed with Gypsum Fibrosum and Coptidis Rhizoma, 6g each time, and can be used for treating heat toxicity of Yangming meridian, toothache due to stomach heat, sores on mouth and tongue, etc.

pharmacological action

It has inhibitory effect on mycobacterium tuberculosis. It can inhibit the heart, slow down the heart rate and lower blood pressure.

Dose usage

3- 10g, decocted in water. Shengyang is suitable for roasting.

Pay attention to use

It is not suitable for those with hyperactivity of fire due to yin deficiency, stagnation of qi and blood stasis, headache due to hyperactivity of liver yang, and macula. Excessive dosage can cause headache, shock, rigidity and contraction of limbs, dyspnea, etc.

Traditional Chinese medicine taste

(1) Xin: "can disperse, can do", that is, it has the functions of dispersing, promoting qi and promoting blood circulation. Generally speaking, exterior-relieving drugs, qi-activating drugs and blood-activating drugs all have pungent taste. Therefore, spicy drugs are often used to treat exterior syndrome and qi-blood block syndrome. Spicy drugs mostly work for dispersing, so the theory of "Xin Run" is not representative.

Bitter medicine is often used to treat heat syndrome, fire syndrome, asthma, cough, nausea, constipation, dampness syndrome, yin deficiency and excessive fire. Generally speaking, drugs for relaxing bowels or moistening intestines, softening and resolving hard mass are salty, and salty drugs are often used to treat dry stool, excessive phlegm, swelling and pain.
