The Qianlong Jin 'ou Gu Yong Cup is a masterpiece among the cultural relics in the Forbidden City. Height 12.5cm, caliber 8cm, foot height 5cm, palindrome engraved at the mouth. According to the records in the Archives of the Office of the Interior Affairs in Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong attached great importance to the making of this kind of cup, not only using precious materials such as gold, pearls and precious stones in the treasury, but also carefully making and modifying it many times until the emperor was satisfied. Therefore, the cup has always been regarded as a precious ancestral magic weapon by the Qing emperor. "Jin Ou" means state power, and the name "Jin Ou Gu Yong" reflects a desire to safeguard state power forever. It is a special wine glass for the opening ceremony held by the Qing emperor on New Year's Day every year. On New Year's Day, in hall of mental cultivation, the emperor put the "Golden Ou Yonggu Cup" on the long table of red sandalwood, poured Tu Su wine, lit candles, raised his brush, wrote auspicious words and prayed for peace and stability of the country.
