Wang Wei is one of the representatives of the pastoral school.
But what many people don't know is that apart from describing the natural scenery in the fields, the most common theme in Wang Wei's poems is parting. According to the statistics of scholars, there are as many as 67 farewell poems written by Wang Zhu, accounting for nearly 1/5 of all 376 poems. It can be said that these two themes constitute the two most creative forms of Wang Wei's life.
Throughout his life, parting is the fate he has to face, and it is also the biggest hidden injury in his heart. Returning to the countryside soothes his impatient heart and gives him spiritual comfort, which is his peaceful destination.
