What's the difference between Qigong and Tai Ji Chuan?
It is generally believed that Tai Ji Chuan seeks quietness in motion and Qigong seeks quietness in motion. The two are opposite and complementary, and I have always held this view and put it into practice. But recently I have been thinking, are these two dynamic or static? First of all, they are different in nature. Tai Ji Chuan exercises the body of limbs, while Qigong exercises the internal qi under the guidance of ideas. Tai Ji Chuan's quietness is a calm state of mind, while Qigong's quietness is a physical representation. It can be seen that the connotations of motion and static are different. Secondly, qigong seeks movement in quietness, that is, seeking internal qi movement; Tai Ji Chuan's seeking quietness in motion is only a means and method (resisting motion with quietness), and quietness is not an end, but the real purpose he pursues, and it is also the movement of internal qi. Only static (static) can make good use of ideas (effortless) and realize the movement of internal qi under the guidance of boxing potential.

Because both of them are aimed at promoting the operation of internal qi, they have the effects of promoting each other, complementing each other and reaching the same goal by different routes; For health preservation, you can not only practice together, but also practice together. Why? Because it takes time for Tai Ji Chuan to achieve internal qi operation, but he will never be good at practicing boxing. Under amateur conditions, it is impossible to work hard for a few years. But there is no movement on the stump, so I concentrate on relaxing, guiding the internal qi to rotate with the breath in the body with my mind, and concentrate; It is easier to get angry. It can help you practice Tai Ji Chuan when you have a real feeling of internal air diving in the process of standing piles. By relaxing your intention without using strength and breathing with boxing potential, it will be easier to understand that internal qi flows with boxing potential.

Move it. On the other hand, due to the integrity, diversity and variability of boxing potential, there are left and right; The sudden advance and retreat must be coordinated by the internal force equivalent to the whole body running on a big Sunday. This whole-body internal qi will also make you run in the pile, and the internal qi operation will expand from the original governor's second pulse operation on a small Sunday to the whole-body operation on a big Sunday. But my "big Sunday" is not as complicated as the traditional practice: I want to remember the twelve meridians; It is not easy to understand acupoints, and there are veins, which are also difficult to operate. I use a variety of ways to run at will, which can not only choose according to my physical needs, but also increase my interest and avoid boredom. The voluntary movement of internal qi is between regular and irregular. The general rule is that qi rises and falls, and qi sinks in the abdomen (rising, along the Du meridian, outside the limbs; Keep in good health, along ren meridian and inside limbs), breathe, store hair, and make internal qi "travel all over" (in Yangcheng Fu). This kind of random internal qi is actually close to the "qi directly nourishes and is harmless" mentioned in Thirteen Potential Exercises, which refers to the natural conditioning and cultivation of internal qi, that is, through breathing and guidance, the idea is used to promote the operation and strengthening of internal qi;

Whether practicing Tai Ji Chuan or Qigong, being able to understand this principle is like walking confidently on the sunshine avenue. A little knowledge inevitably leads to confusion in the dark.
