After the Wenchuan earthquake, the counterpart aid construction team of Hunan Province made a scientific decision, placed the reconstruction of Li County's material home and spiritual home in the same important position, put forward the working idea of "rebuilding spiritual home and building a harmonious new Li County", incorporated social work service into the formal aid construction project, and quickly established the Xiangchuan social work service team. At the same time, many social work organizations have flocked to Sichuan to work hard for the reconstruction of spiritual homes after the disaster. Due to the influence of "separation theory" and the limitation of resource shortage, most social work institutions choose children, teenagers, disabled people and community livelihood development as their main service directions, and pay relatively little attention to the elderly. In fact, the elderly are the most vulnerable group in disasters, and compared with other groups, they are also the most difficult group to recover from disasters. In this case, Xiangchuan Social Work Service Team advocates that in view of the special situation and needs of the elderly in Lixian County, based on the value concept of professional social work, the professional skills of social work should be used to intervene in the service, adjust their social relations in the external environment, use social resources to improve or restore their social functions, enhance their social adaptability, improve their quality of life, and restore their normal life and psychological state.
Second, the project concept
Social work for the elderly is a major to help the elderly, a plan to help the elderly, and a professional job for social workers to help the disadvantaged elderly or elderly groups solve difficulties, prevent the occurrence of problems for the elderly, meet their needs, restore and develop their functions, enable the elderly to adapt to society, carry out normal life and social activities, improve their quality of life and promote the development of welfare undertakings.
For a long time, the elderly have been the social vulnerable groups (physiological vulnerable groups). Due to the constraints of acquired conditions (physical aging), most elderly people lack competitiveness and cannot or can only occupy part of social resources, so they can only live a low-level life. At the same time, it lacks the ability to resist all kinds of risks and improve the situation by relying on its own efforts. This is especially true for the elderly in Lixian after the disaster. Therefore, it is necessary for social workers to conduct targeted surveys based on reality and needs, understand their actual needs, and combine their physiological, psychological and social characteristics to provide professional services for the elderly by using three social work methods: case, group and community.
The pain that disasters bring to the elderly often makes them feel uneasy and dependent on society and groups. Therefore, when carrying out social work practice for the elderly, we should try our best to maintain their original system and not leave their family, community, affection and friendship.
At the same time, we should carry out more activities to let the elderly discover their potential, let them find problems in life and solve them by themselves (helping others to help themselves). From a personal point of view, discovering their own potential can help them enhance their self-confidence and reduce their sense of hopelessness in life; From the perspective of interpersonal communication, because they have the same experience, they can share the same topic, and it is easy to form a sense of collective belonging (to meet their own needs for love and belonging), and they can establish a network of mutual support; From the perspective of the relationship between individuals and society, through the analysis and understanding of social policies, the elderly can link personal problems with the uneven distribution of social rights and resources, and can unite and take concerted actions to change the status quo.
Old people in China are considerate and even forgivable to their children. They always feel that children have a heavy burden, so they can't take care of themselves. Therefore, as long as children live well, their feelings and needs are insignificant. Especially after the disaster, only a handful of children are busy building houses and taking care of the elderly. Therefore, we should teach the elderly to "love themselves", pay attention to their feelings and needs, deepen their knowledge and understanding, so as to further discover their potential and change their views of self-denial and self-blame. At the same time, advocate a positive way of thinking to the elderly and cultivate their positive and optimistic attitude towards life.
Three. Project objectives
1, enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly after the disaster, and really let the elderly "learn, have fun and have something to do";
2. Cultivate a local volunteer team with professional social work concept, provide continuous services for the elderly, and realize the localization of social work;
3. Write operation manuals and academic reports, summarize the practical experience of social work for the elderly after the disaster, and provide experience for other institutions or individuals engaged in social work for the elderly.
Four. contents of a project
1, interview survey
Determine the scope of services, with the elderly in Lixian Social Service Welfare Center as the main service target. Conduct an interview questionnaire survey to understand the problems and needs of the elderly in welfare centers.
2, needs assessment, and write a survey report.
According to the questionnaire survey, make a demand assessment and write an investigation report.
3. Practical work.
(1) psychological counseling to help the elderly adapt to changes in the environment.
After the earthquake, many houses collapsed and some villages were not suitable for reconstruction and needed to be relocated. For the elderly who are lonely, the government generally places them in old-age care institutions. Old people who used to live alone or with relatives will not adapt to the new group life. Old people are more nostalgic and more dependent on the familiar living environment. It is difficult to adapt to a strange environment after moving, and anxiety is easy to appear. We can help them gradually adapt to the new environment through psychological counseling.
(2) Start the linkage mechanism between social workers and volunteers, recruit local volunteers, and train them on the value concept of social work, so as to realize the localization of social work and ensure the elderly to receive lasting services.
(3) Establish an activity room for the elderly, so that the elderly can have their own activity space and platform.
(4) Develop interest groups to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly.
Developing interest groups can help the elderly find friends with the same hobbies and make their leisure time scientifically planned. So as to meet the needs of interpersonal communication and scientific enrichment of leisure life for the elderly.
(5) Social work values training for welfare center employees and service skills workshops for the elderly.
After investigation, it was found that the nurses in Lixian Welfare Center were not professional nurses. Therefore, we can train the employees of welfare centers, so that they can understand the value concept of social work and master the practical skills of social work for the elderly.
(6) Hold the Double Ninth Festival "The most beautiful sunset is still red" to provide a platform for the elderly.
(7) Award of "Excellent Volunteer" in Welfare Institute.
4. Summary
(1) Write an operation manual of social work for the elderly after the disaster.
(2) Evaluation report.
