Representative characteristics

In the Five Dynasties, under the banner of "Huang Xu makes strange people", flower-and-bird painting became mature. At that time, the painting circles in West Shu were brought into the traditional techniques of Tang Dynasty by Guang Yin and Teng Changyou, and further developed in the hands of Huang Quan and his son, with gorgeous and full painting style. The painting circles in Southern Tang Dynasty, represented by Xu Xi, are characterized by ink dropping. The artistic conception is light and beautiful, which is commonly called "Xu Xiye". The development of flower-and-bird painting in later generations did not go beyond these two basic traditional techniques.
