Professor You Xiaohu, deputy director and chief scientist of Purple Mountain Laboratory, introduced that Purple Mountain Laboratory chose photonic terahertz wireless communication as a new breakthrough direction of 6G, and gathered superior forces to build a leading domestic and world-class photonic terahertz experimental environment.
After more than three years' efforts, the team pioneered the photonic terahertz optical fiber integrated real-time transmission architecture, completed the development of the photonic terahertz real-time wireless communication experimental system, broke the world record of publicly reporting that the net real-time transmission rate of terahertz communication system exceeded 100 Gbps, and the results were selected as the top academic conference in the field of international optical communication in 2022, which is also the only demonstration area paper independently completed by mainland scholars in the history of OFC terahertz communication.
It is reported that this achievement can be integrated with the existing optical fiber network, and can be extended to form 100- 1000Gbps outdoor and indoor ultra-high-speed wireless access, which can replace the existing mobile network and optical fiber to realize rapid deployment and replace the huge cable in the data center, greatly reducing the cost and power consumption, and can be used for inter-satellite communication, air-space integrated access and so on.
