Look at Wu Jun first. He was born in poverty, honest and frank, studious and brilliant. He is both a historian and a writer, which is very rare in Nanliang. His poems are fresh and reflect social reality, and he is good at depicting the surrounding scenery and rendering the feelings of parting. All these characteristics reflect his profound social observation and artistic talent.
Then watch Tao Hongjing. Tao Hongjing is tactful, cautious and modest, and has a clear understanding of the twists and turns of things. He speaks at a glance, with few contradictions. Tao Hongjing was smart, studious and well-read, so he had deep attainments in medicine, alchemy, literature and many other fields. He lived in seclusion for a long time, calling that mountain Maoshan, studying Taoism, visiting famous mountains and looking for fairy medicine. Tao Hongjing was naturally fond of writing, especially in his later years, mainly involving Taoist works, astronomy, geography, medicine, health care and other fields.
Generally speaking, Wu Jun and Tao Hongjing have different styles. Wu Yun is famous for his poems and historical works, showing his profound understanding and observation of social reality. Tao Hongjing, on the other hand, pays more attention to Taoism, medicine and health preservation, and his works reflect his understanding and personal practice of seclusion. Although their personalities and styles are different, they are all outstanding figures of their respective times.
