Legal basis: Article 7 of the Basic Medical Care and Health Promotion Law of People's Republic of China (PRC). The State Council and local people's governments at all levels lead medical care and health promotion. The competent department of health in the State Council is responsible for the overall coordination of national medical care and health promotion. Other relevant departments in the State Council are responsible for medical care and health promotion within their respective functions and duties. The health authorities of local people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the overall coordination of medical care and health promotion within their respective administrative areas. Other relevant departments of the local people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the relevant medical and health promotion work within the scope of their respective duties.
