Zhejiang School for the Blind was established in June, 1989, 1 1, sponsored by the Provincial Department of Education. It is a full-time boarding special education school for school-age children and adolescents with visual impairment in the province, and implements an education system that combines preschool education, nine-year compulsory education and high school (vocational high school and ordinary high school) education.
The school also cooperated with Zhejiang Vocational College of Special Education to run a school with the integration of Chinese medicine rehabilitation technology and higher vocational education (3+2), which basically met the different educational needs of visually impaired students in the province.
There are 26 classes in the school, with 348 students, 76 full-time teachers, including 3 1 staff. At present, the school covers an area of 36,465 square meters, with a building area of16,060 square meters. By 2024, the renovation and upgrading of the original school site will be completed, and the construction area will reach 3640 1.4 square meters.
The school takes "love the whole world" as its motto and "strive to be a better self" as its guidance, and provides every student with a "responsible and suitable" education.
The school takes people's satisfactory education as the standard, takes improving the quality of education and teaching as its own responsibility, constantly improves the mechanism and standardizes management, and has formed many experiences and characteristics in moral education, physical education, art education and vocational education.
While implementing the national curriculum plan, the school actively offers music, physical education (soccer for the blind), handicrafts (paper pottery, printmaking, bricklaying), vocational education, amblyopia rehabilitation and other courses, which has laid a good quality foundation for students' all-round development and won universal praise from society and parents.
The school has successively won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Unit for Special Education", "Zhejiang Advanced Unit for Rehabilitation of Low Vision", "Hangzhou Civilized Unit", "Hangzhou Safe Demonstration Campus", "Hangzhou Beautiful Campus" and "Hangzhou Advanced Collective for Economic and Cultural Security", and has also been identified as the training base for cultural and sports talents for the blind in China, Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou.
