Painted Skin is an oriental love magic film co-produced by Chinese mainland and Hongkong, China. It is based on the story of Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio, directed by Chen Jiashang and starring Zhao Wei, Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Sun Li and Donnie Yen.

This film tells the love story between Wang Sheng, Pei Rong and Xiao Wei, the fox demon. The film was released on September 26th, 2008, and won the Excellent Co-production Award in the 3rd China Huabiao Award, and was shortlisted for the Best Film Award in the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards.
