This dragon chair has been placed on the top of the main hall of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, also known as the Golden Qi Diao Dragon Wooden Chair. It was made in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of 500 years. The Forbidden City was built in the Ming Dynasty, and this chair came into being. The Qing dynasty used things from the Ming dynasty. After the demise of the Qing Dynasty, when Yuan Shikai became emperor, he chose Kyoto as the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City and completely renovated the whole hall. This dragon chair was also replaced because it didn't look good.
After the replacement of the dragon chair, the whereabouts are unknown. After liberation, cultural relics experts wanted to restore the original appearance of the Forbidden City and found this dragon chair in a dilapidated warehouse. At that time, the dragon chair was unrecognizable, the paint was gone, and there were still many defects. Even the legs are lame, and it looks like an ordinary chair. After the restoration of cultural relics experts, the dragon chair was restored to its present state. Now this dragon chair has become a cultural relic, and it is maintained by special personnel every year.
When the Forbidden City was first allowed to open, because of lax management, tourists often went in and out of the three halls, and there was no guardrail protection next to the dragon chair, just a rope around it. At that time, many tourists turned over and sat on the dragon chair, which caused serious damage to the dragon chair. Later, when the Administration discovered this incident, it took compulsory measures to block the three pavilions, so that tourists were not allowed to enter, and only photos were allowed at the door, and the dragon chair gradually only existed in the pictures.
