What are the typical hazards caused by biological invasion in China?
Recently, a large number of "white mud ants" and starfish have appeared in Qingdao Maritime Terminal in China, which has become a hot spot for a time.

According to news reports, "white mud ants", like starfish, are both killers of marine ecology. They can easily kill some shellfish such as clams and oysters, and they are poisonous and inedible.

This reminds me of a very hot news. The news of the spread of rabbit invasion in Australia, because rabbits are artificially introduced, because rabbits have no natural enemies in Australia, and they are very suitable for rabbit life and the environment is good, leading to more and more rabbits in Australia.

As a matter of fact, there are also many alien invasive events in China, such as snails, water hyacinths, Solidago canadensis, scavenger fish and so on. They all directly or indirectly threaten the living environment of native creatures in China, and I have seen several of them with my own eyes.

Water hyacinth grows abundantly in many waters of our country, and its reproductive ability is very strong. If left untreated, it will grow wildly. Water hyacinth will block the river, affect the water quality and reduce the oxygen content in the water, so it will affect the habitat of aquatic organisms.

I remember when I was a child, I went to the river to watch my elders go fishing and met many water hyacinths. They all catch water hyacinths on the shore to make a place where they can fish together, but they often can't catch any fish. Slowly, people began to pay attention to the harm caused by water hyacinth, and began to destroy water hyacinth in large numbers to protect water quality.

Besides water hyacinth, what I know best is Solidago canadensis. In my hometown of Hubei, I can often see the famous Solidago canadensis on the local news. This flower is really powerful. It is said that Solidago canadensis was originally introduced to China for viewing, but later Solidago canadensis, due to its long growth cycle, will do harm to the ecology, seize nutrients from other crops, and may lead to crop yield reduction and serious crop withering.

It can be said that nothing grows anywhere.

Besides, the street sweeper is an exotic species. It was originally a fish, distributed in some rivers in South America. Because of its beauty, it was bought as an ornamental fish. I didn't expect the scavenger to have a strong vitality, which would devour fish eggs, destroy the river banks and affect the ecological environment of rivers in China. Although I have never seen a street sweeper with my own eyes, I have seen environmentalists catching street sweepers in rivers in various short videos, which shows the threat to China's water environment.

Generally speaking, the invasion of alien species is mostly caused by the introduction of human beings into China, and most of them have strong vitality, no natural enemies and are toxic and harmful.

I remember reading a news some time ago that a snake was found in the garden of a community here. After the residents reported it, the relevant departments took it away. As identified by the staff, this species is an exotic snake, which is not found locally. Therefore, it is very likely that residents bought it online as a pet, because they didn't want to keep it or accidentally released it, which led to the snake affecting the lives of residents in the community.

On the other hand, I do have friends around me who have raised rare animals such as chameleons and wood frogs from abroad. There is no law in our country that foreign pets are not allowed, so if you make small moves, it may affect the ecological environment.

When keeping these pets at ordinary times, we must prevent them from escaping from their "home". At the same time, if you don't want to keep it, don't throw it away. You should contact the relevant animal departments to properly handle their aftermath, and don't cause such annoying things as the invasion of new creatures!
