Buddhism treats diseases like this: people have three kinds of diseases: 1, physical diseases; 2. Mental illness; 3. Negative energy disease (called "karmic disease" in Buddhism). Although the first two diseases are caused by four major causes from the perspective of Buddhism, secular people (including those who have just started practicing) cannot be cured by faith alone, because ordinary people are not strong in mind and will and must rely on doctors for treatment. But if it is the third disease, negative energy disease (the doctor can't find it, but you know you must be sick and uncomfortable; Or found out, but medicine is powerless), it depends on the power of faith to cure.
Therefore, Buddhism does not advocate Buddhist disciples to study medicine (not against it, because many eminent monks in the past dynasties were both medical monks and medicine monks). One is that medical skills are done by their own professionals, and the other is that they will suffer if they don't practice, which will affect their practice and disappoint the wishes of patients. Of course, if Buddhism is profound, it is another matter. Buddha himself is a master of medical skills, but he still focuses on preaching and teaching to solve doubts. It is our top priority to get rid of life and death and transcend reincarnation.
